Mamaroneck, New York is a town in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 10,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first gun sights were placed in Mamaroneck by George Washington and his aides on orders from General John Burgoyne in 1777 during the American Revolution. These sights were used to spot targets moving around battlefields. In 1812, Colonel James Fenton erected a hilltop artillery post near present-day Park Street in Mamaroneck which served as the center for artillery observations for miles around. From this location, Fenton could see more effectively than any other person what was happening on both sides of the frontier. In 1814 Captain Samuel Burt set up a battery of cannons on High Hill overlooking the village and began using these guns to target French troops besieging Fort Erie (now Buffalo). This made it possible for Americans living near the fort to engage their enemies without risk of wounding themselves or their families back home. Mamaroneck's origins can be traced back even further to 1638 when Nicholas Perreault purchased land here from Major Dongan and built a smallpox-inflicted house known as "Le Hôtel de la Grosse Tour". After years of growth and investment by various entrepreneurs – including one Pierre Poirier – development continued throughout much of 19th century with little interruption until World War II when most all structures were destroyed bybombing or fire bombings during that time period; only 2 buildings survive today: Le Petit Hotel (now called The West Side Inn) and L’Hôtel du Lac (now called The East Side Inn).

On July 15, 1938, it again became a village when all the other towns in Rockland County were merged into the newly created city of New York City. Mamaroneck is located at (40.847902,-73.566667). According to the 2010 census, its population was 8,502; 7,947 of which lived in the town itself and 511 residents of adjacent villages who did not live within Mamaroneck limits but nonethelesssend mail to that municipality’s mailing address. An early German settler named Joachim Müller established himself hereabouts about 1794-95 after his family came over on an old barque from Germany via Holland with their fishing fleet and landed on Long Island Sound at Fresh Killskirk near present day Islip Beach). He built an rude log cabin near what is now Main Street which he called "Mamaronesk" after his birthplace back home (now Wittenberg). By 1800 there were several hundred Germans living hereabouts among them some eighty families or so including two pastors – Johann Gottlieb Lehmann (1760-1826) and Heinrich Friedrich Zimmermann (1776-1854), both natives of Hesse Kassel where they had been born and raised; also John Fenton (1781-1848), one of America's earliest land speculators having come to this new country with his family soon after independence from Great Britain; later becoming one Of Eighty American Pioneers who Settled In Nassau County In 1814 – A Most Important Event For Our Country! That Year We Brought About One Of The Most Significant Changes In Our History!…..
