Lynbrook is a town in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 9,541 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Long Island City–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Lynbrook were farmers and their families who began to arrive in 1795. They named the town after their ancestor, Sir Nicholas Lynbrooke, 1st Baronet of Exeter. The first two stores opened in 1815 and both closed within a year because of low sales. However, one store reopened as the "Lynbrook Store" on Main Street in 1816 and continued to be open until it burned down in 1829. In 1837, the village of Lynbrook was established with a meeting house and three shops. By 1840 there were nine stores and five hotels with a population of over 100 people including thirty-six women working as seamstresses or spinsters for local businesses. In 1856, Samuel White developed an area now known as North Park which included much of what is today Lynbrook Township along with his own plantations which he had bought from Native Americans.Lynbrook became incorporated as a Village on March 15th.,1857 under the name "North Park." A post office was established at this time but closed due to lack of customers by 1861 when telephone service arrived allowing villages like ours access to mail facilities that they would not have otherwise had access to." A fire destroyed most of North Park on October 25th., 1888 which left many homes standing but also caused extensive damage to mills, churches and other infrastructure that would not be rebuilt for another forty years

Lynbrook is a town in the Finger Lakes region of New York, United States. The population was 5,618 at the 2010 census. Lynbrook is part of the Greater Buffalo metropolitan area and surrounds seven other towns: Buffalo, New Rochelle, South Woodbury, Northwood, Amherst, and Canandaigua. The town was founded in 1837 by General Israel Putnam and his wife Lucy as a small rural community on what is now Wayne County. It became an incorporated village in 1907 and a town in 1959. In 1968 it lost its status as an independent municipality to the larger city of Buffalo. Lynbrook is located about fifteen miles north-northwest of downtown Buffalo on high ground between two valleys that run east-west through the Finger Lakes region: the Niagara Escarpment to the south and Huron Mountains to the north. The first permanent settler in Lynbrook was Mr. Geddes who came overland from Canada in 1835 with his family for land speculation purposes only. He erected a cabin near present day Nyack on what is now Ontario County’s western border with Wayne County; however he did not remain long enough to build any permanent structures there or within our current boundaries (the Geddes Cabin still stands today). A few years later another pioneer named David Brown arrived He also set up shop along what are now Erie and Ontario Counties’ eastern borders but unfortunately he too failed to establish himself very successfully for some time before moving on downriver towards Auburn (today’s Ridgway). At this early point most inhabitants were farmers who chose location rather than settle because they had no choice since transportation connections were limited at that time (the Erie Canal had not been completed yet) or because they lacked adequate land elsewhere within their district for growing crops or developing homes/townships etc.; furthermore there was little hope of securing government assistance which would have been necessary for such relocation efforts due to then existing political dynamics within New York at that time….
