In the early days of firearms, there was not much difference between muzzleloaders and shot guns. The LSS allowed shooters to indirect their fire by directing light onto an electronically illuminated target located behind or within range for easy identification and hit-tracking purposes

The City renovated Main Street through Downtown LBCC into a lively main artery including an impressive mixture of Victorian Revival architecture dating back to 1885–1896 including two grand old hotels long abandoned: The Starlight Motel and The register office building are also on Main Street today – these buildings once housed several banks which combined made up one institution called “The First National Bank” at Third Street/Jefferson Boulevard corner now Pioneer Courthouse Plaza In 1965 Brownsville annexation made LBCC unofficially partner with TXBA rebranding itself “Long Beach Basin Area Business Association”
Long Beach was founded on December 3, 1879 by John A. Sloat and James B. Baird. The town had a population of 137 in 1880 and grew to more than 2,000 in 1890. In 1907, the Long Beach Bridge was built over the strait between Long Beach and Islip to connect the two towns. On November 15, 1912, Long Beach became an incorporated city with a population of 5,554. On January 1, 1973, the city annexed Garden City to its eastward-growing territory. Garden City's incorporation made it one of New York's initial "manhattan" boroughs (New York City is divided into five boroughs: Manhattan (the Bronx), Brooklyn/Queensland (Brooklyn), Staten Island/Islip (Staten Island), and Queens). The long-established water tower on Main Street remains an important part of Long Beach's history as well as its economy today; its clock has been running continuously since 1903.
