Long Beach, New York is a city in the state of New York and the capital of Long Island. The population was 1,596 at the 2010 census. The city is located on Long Island Sound, east of Manhattan and west of Brooklyn. The first settler in what would become Long Beach was Nicholas de Corteza in 1664. He founded what would become the town of Hempstead on his own land within present-day Nassau County. In 1784, John Baptist Swenandt arrived from Germany with his family and built a house here known as "Swenandt's House". It served as the county seat until 1795 when Hempstead became the new county seat. In 1800,umbing John Morse bought 8 acres (3 ha) of land north of present-day Swenandt's House for $1,000. He named it Morse Landing after himself and started building a wharf to export goods from this site. By 1807, he had developed an extensive salt industry which helped make Long Beach one of America's most prosperous towns during its early years. In 1814, when Union forces invaded New York during the war for independence, they destroyed all but three churches in Nassau County – one belonging to Nicholas de Corteza and two erected by John Morse – while also burning down many other buildings including Swenandt's House and Morse Landing. As a result of this rampage singlehandedly by Union troops under General George Bleecker, who was then commander-in-chief in New York City – Long Beach became an important symbol both nationally and locally that helped spur development throughout Nassau County during this time period

During this time period, many local businesses became world leaders in their fields thanks to their skilled employees or entrepreneurs who took advantage of innovative business practices such as forced labor or marketing innovations that enabled them to stay afloat during tough times. These include John Pemberton’s manufacturing company that became known for producing fine cigars; Augustus Kelley’s distillery which produced liquors like vodka and rum; Julius Caesar’s Brewery which made beers like Heineken and Budweiser; Harry Houdini’s escape attempt from Sing Sing Correctional Facility; Moses Levy’s footwear store which became one of America's most successful shoe stores; Barney Ross' banking empire which pioneered airmail service within America; as well as many other pioneer businesses that continue to thrive today including Honda Motorsports Inc., Hewlett Packard Company (HP), Subway sandwich restaurants (nowadays called Foot Locker), Mazda Motor Corp., FedEx Ground Airlines (FEDEX) and much more! In 1960, following passage of the Taft–Hartley Act - then known as "The National Labor Relations Board Act" -Long Beach began its own version of collective bargaining with its workers through Local 444 of United Automobile Workers (UAW). This unique form of unionism helped make Long Beach one of the most powerful unions in America at the time while also helping it remain financially stable despite tough economic times throughout much of the 1970′s and 1980′s. After years of study and dialogue with other unions across North America, LOBBYISM successfully merged into CIO International in 1984 after becoming both politically influential within American labor movement while still remaining economically sustainable!
