It seems likely that Longe Beach was located some distance east of modern day Long Beach; however no records exist confirming this location beyond conjecture or legend. A few weeks later Giovanni da Verrazzano sailed past present day Long Beach Harbour on his return trip from North America with reports of great treasures waiting for him ashore at Islip (now Farmingdale).
