Lindenhurst, NY is a small town located in Westchester County, New York. It is known for its apple orchards and founder Samuel Morse's business career. The population of Lindenhurst was 9,826 at the 2010 census. The first settler in what is now Lindenhurst was John Morse who arrived in 1776. He built a cabin on the east side of the stream which later became known as Morse Place. In 1820, Colonel David Trimble established a school in Lindenhurst and named it after his friend and neighbor Colonel Trimble of Whitestone, NY. In 1825 the post office was established at Lindenhurst and continued to be called that until it changed its name to Newburgh in 1828. In 1864, General Philip Sheridan arrived at Fort Wadsworth with his army and constructed a military hospital there which remains today one of the most popular tourist destinations in Westchester County. The hospital also served as an ammunition depot during World War II when munitions were transported from Manhattan to Westchester County for use by the war effort. In 1947, Drury School opened doors to students following opening of Bishop Hennepin School (now Malone Middle School) oncniversity Avenue near Centre Street on Long Island’s South Shore Railroad passenger line. Since then much has happened within the walls of “Olde” Lindenhurst including: - construction of Malone Middle School (1986), one of America’s first large high school buildings; - groundbreaking for First Baptist Church (1994), home to music programs and services since 1978; - village incorporation in 1996; - establishment of Ithaca Community College (1996),Westchester Community College District’s only community college presence outside New York City proper; - reopening of Morse Place Cabin/Morse Place Inn as The Lodgefront Hotel & Conference Center following renovation by hotel management company Townshend Management Services LLP beginning Summer 2006; - relocation from its original location adjacent to First Baptist Church due to increasing competition for lodging within minutes' walk of city center.; – purchase by Pinnacle Real Estate Partners LLC effective January 1st, 2007 permanently closing oldest business inside former church structure while concurrently expanding new facilities adjacent thereto into more than 5 stories tall., consisting presently (>30 rooms) comprising over 100 acres leased back from Village using proceeds from sale thereof

Lindenhurst was a small, unincorporated community in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is located on the southern border of Menands and was named after Lindenwald, a hamlet in Germany. The population was 1,844 at the 2010 census. The first known settler in Lindenhurst was Nicholas de la Grange who arrived in 1675. He built a cabin on the east side of present-day Main Street and named it De La Grange Manor after his brother-in-law, Sir Nicholas de la Grange. The first post office at Lindenhurst was established on March 4, 1836. In 1847 local farmers Isaac Sargeant and James Aiken organized what became the village of Menands to serve as its center from where they operated their farms and stores. In 1849 an act were passed by the New York State Legislature that granted township status to Menands Township (later Village) with a population of 564 residents; this made Lindenhurst an incorporated town with full voting rights under state law. Lindenhurst had two churches: one founded by Dutch Reformed missionaries during 1795–96 and dedicated to Sts Peter and Paul; the other erected by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church during 1850–51 as First Presbyterian Church of Lundy Lane which served as headquarters for all Methodist congregations west of Hudson River until that denomination's merger into Congregationalism in 1865
On the east side of Lindenhurst, New York is a large and picturesque town with rich history. The town was founded in 1785 by John Lindenhurst, who arrived from Connecticut. Lindenhurst was one of the original towns in what is now New York State. He built a small store on his farm and started to trade goods with other farms and villages in the area. In 1824, Lindenhurst became the first town in what is now Monroe County to be granted incorporation as a village. The growth ofLindenhurst led to increased development around it, and by 1870, the population had reached 2,500 people. In 1872, Lindenhurst became part of Albany County when it was created from parts of Monroe and Ontario Counties. Aldermanic powers were transferred from the village to county government and then to the town government. In 1916, Albany County merged with New York City to form New York State as a whole. The growth ofNew York City led to increased traffic on Route 9 throughLindenhurst and into other neighboring towns such as Sleepy Hollow and Haverstraw; this caused problems for residents who wanted access to their schools without having to leave their homes overnight. In response, in 1951 Mayor Robert Fenton enacted an ordinance requiring that all cars entering or leavingthe village should have a permit fromthe mayor's office; this resulted in an increase in traffic withinLindenhurst but also helped reduce vehicular pollution within the community overall. Today, much ofLindenhurst's historic architecture still remains standing; examples include John Ahern's house which is located on Main Street between Clinton Avenue and Green Lane; Drury House which stands on Clinton Avenue just south of Hill Road;and Beekman Towerwhich is located on Ridge Road near Route 9A north of town center).
