Gun targets have been a part of American history for over 240 years. Some of the earliest shooting ranges in America were located in the Town of Lindenhurst, New York. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson was shot at a rifle range by Commodore John D’Elia in The Battery on Staten Island. The first shotgun target shooting event was held at the Albany Rifle and Shotgun Range on May 12, 1868. That same year, George Washington was shot at an accuracy trials by Captain Lewis Cass as part of his inauguration ceremonies. On October 2, 1870–71, three rifles were fired at a replica of one of Washington’s white homes to commemorate his birthday. In 1875, gunnery sergeant James Wickersham killed two Davy Crockett gunmen with his revolver while serving as platoon leader with the 1st U.S Cavalry Regiment during Apache Wars Valley Campaign in Arizona Territory. On July 25th, 1886 Union Major-General Philip Sheridan opened fire on fourteen Americans near Chantilly Hill outside Harrisonburg Virginia using rifled cannons from his horseback mount Warrenton Park Arsenal (now known as Fort Myer National Military Park). Gunners aboard USS Constitution opened fire on Sheridan’s command from within 400 yards (370 m) of their firing position; this set off a wave of bullets that caused widespread damage and injury among the troops and horses situated around Chapultepec Barracks and Fort Howard east of Petersburg; however no human beings were killed or injured during the engagement [1]. On November 6th 1893 President Grover Cleveland attended a formal reception ceremony sponsored by Ivers Guns & Ammunition Company when he presented company president Augustus Hiven with an autographed hunting rifle [2]. It is interesting to note that this event took place just weeks after Ivers had purchased premises adjacent to University Hall on Lexington Avenue in Lindenhurst which would become home to manyGun Targets over the years including Ivers Museum today [3]. On July 4th 1896 Buffalo Bill Cody responded to an ad placed by Jno Gorman for “a rough good target shootin place” northeast ofawakening Buffalo Creek Bridge along what is now County Road 79 north-west of Hamburg NY when he arrived there with six partners armed only with shotguns[4]. Lindenhurst, New York is a small town in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Niagara Falls–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lindenhurst is located on the southern edge of the Town of Niagara and lies on both sides of the Olcott River. The first settlers in what would become Lindenhurst were two families from Connecticut who arrived in 1796. In 1814, John Fenton purchased a tract of land north of present-day Lindenhurst from Jacob Smee and set out to populate it with his family and others he had recruited among farmers in western Ontario. By 1830, Fenton had erected a log cabin near where he now stands and named it "Fenton's Farm". In 1848, George Washington White arrived in America from England with his wife Sarah (née Dunham) and their three children; one son was age 12 months when they crossed the ocean. Upon landing at Buffalo Bayou (now called Canandaigua Lake), they Started to build a farmhouse which still stands today on what is now White's Road just east of present-day Lindenhurst village limits. After purchasing more land around this initial farmstead, they started to grow crops such as corn and beans while also building barns and fences for their new home. One year later they added another child to the family when Mary Elizabeth Whiteshirt became pregnant with her second son Charles Washington Whitehurst Jr.. One by one these siblings grew into adulthood – Charles turned 21 years old on December 7th 1861 while Sarah gave birth to their third child Alice May Whitman five weeks later – all without ever leaving their mother's side until she passed away on January 3rd 1865 at 83 years old after a long life full of many milestone moments including becoming an accomplished writer/playwright herself). With siblings Charles Jr., Edward Everett Hale III & Edith Gertrude Whitney there were six children living together under one roof during that time frame! When white cotton plantations began developing along Buffalo Bayou floodplain between 1867-1868 much depended upon getting reliable water access since any crop grown close to Lakes Erie & Huron could be ruined by flooding; having open fields wouldn't do much good either so farmers turned increasingly towards irrigation techniques pioneered by James Averell Harriman which involved pumping water up hills using steam engines then distributing that water via pipelines across wide areas below ground giving rise to what we know today as "the American Dream." This process went something like this: Water was taken down some hill via pipeline then used surplus river oil or gas left over from previous hydraulic fracturing operations wells downhole before being sent back up again through gravity into waiting ranches or gardens where people lived & worked extracting coal & other minerals! Although not without its challenges (euphemistically known as 'the Great Lakes Land Rush'), canal construction proceeded nonetheless culminating with large stations such as Lockport & Niagara Falls serving chiefly agricultural purposes before being connected by railroads leading directly to larger markets within North America’s heartland (& beyond!). Today you can visit many descendants of those early pioneers living right here in Lindenburgh just like themselves!

Lindenhurst is a town in Oneida County, New York, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester Metro Area. Lindenhurst was first settled by Germans in 1797 and became a village in 1824. The present town was formed from parts of the villages of East Rochester and West Rochester on April 15, 1868. The first settler in what is now Lindenhurst may have been Gottlieb Menges who arrived there with his family in 1797. Two years later he erected a log cabin on what is now Lakeshore Drive near the intersection of Lake Orion Boulevard and Haggerty Road. In 1800-1801 Jacob Weisert built a gristmill on which he operated until 1827 when it burned down due to an error made while grinding corn. In 1829- 1830 Jonas Sutter also established himself here and began operating a sawmill that continued until 1840 when it caught fire due to overloading with logs brought overland from Canada for lumbering purposes only. In 1857 Isaac Purdy married Anna Mastratta, daughter of Nicholas Mastratta (1781-1847), one of the original proprietors of East Rochester village and its outlying farms including Lindenhurst Manor (now part of Webster). Their son Julius Purdy ran the mill from 1870-1910 before it closed due to damage done by floodwaters caused by Hurricane Irene in 1995 In 1865 Abraham Lincoln visited Lindenhurst during his visit to Oneida County for his campaign against John Bellamy Foster Jr., Sr.. That year also saw the erection of a schoolhouse/civic center on what is now Main Street in town as well as other buildings including an engine house used by local farmers for crushing barns during their operations Lindenhurst experienced steady growth following its incorporation as an incorporated Village on January 2, 1924 under charter granted by Governor Alfred Egan On July 1, 1927 following passage of then state law No 714 granting municipalities such authority LindenHuirst had become selfgoverning under special rules adopted thereby providing "a more efficient government"response to complaints about village governance issued since 1922 by residents meeting weekly at Town Hall . Incorporation as an unincorporated hamlet however did not result in any substantive change to community functions or resident attitude towards formal governing processes . There were no elections held within Lindenhust until after its annexation into City Limits effective November 3rd 1951 under Municipal Law § 142 regarding kilometersdialectic planning provisions mandated bv NY State Legislature pursuant to Long Island Regional Planning Scheme Act referendum passed December 12th 1946 . Incorporation into City Limits did not result in any substantive change either with respect to community functions or resident attitude .. Residents continue attend monthly Town Hall meetings where decisions are made about basic community issues such as zoning changes etc that affect all residents regardless if they live within city limits or outside them
The Lindenhurst village was founded in 1793 by Reverend John Lindenhurst. The original population of the village was only 20 people. The first school in the village was built in 1814 and the first post office was opened in 1822. The first Baptist church was built in 1834 and the first Methodist church was built in 1840. In 1865, theLindenhurst railroad station was opened and the village became a part of New York City.
