In 1710 John Woolridge moved to what is now Lindenhurst from Amherst, Massachusetts. In 1804 Elijah Hicks purchased 640 acres (250 ha) east of present-day Lindenhurst for $2,000 from Nicholas de Grasse's grandson John Hicks Sr.. Hicks had come to America as an indentured servant and had earned his freedom by serving his master for two years after which he could own land himself. He began constructing a mill on this property which became known as "Hicks' Mills". In 1825 he sold the mills to Isaac Brockway who built a gristmill on the same site and renamed it "Brockway & Wills". After Brockway's death in 1830, his son-in-law Jacob Wills took over ownership of the Mill and continued to operate it until 1898 when it was taken over by Eastman Kodak Company who renamed it Kodak Hall. In 1893 Alfred Wegener bought Hick's Mills from Kodak Company and began operation of an experimental flying field there called Wegener Field named after him that eventually became downgraded to an airfield without any operational use in 1945 but remains listed on the National Register of Historic Places today as part of Belvedere Airport). In 1905 Charles Fenton purchased 400 acres (120ha) north of present day Lindenhurst from Alfred Wegener for $5,000; this area would become known as "Fenton Park" or simply "Fenton." There were also many businesses established during these years such as Jardine Hutton grocery store( 1901), Guggenheim shoe store( 1911), Post Alley Bakery( 1912) - all founded by entrepreneurs associated with Lindehurst including Joseph Birtchman who ran Birtchman's Furniture Store until 1922 when he sold it to Edward Steichen.( 1920); Harry Sheehan opened Sheean’s Clothing Store next door soon afterwards selling it to Joe Madden in 1938; finally Feeney’s Hardware store opening up 1984 along side numerous other businesses forming what is currently known as 'Lindenhurst Shopping Center'. With so many businesses active throughout its short history, one might assume that there must have been some form of social activity happening here somewhere along those lines too... However regrettably not really! While there areSeveral dances held each year around Christmas time like those popularized back home in New England (!); they are unfortunately rather limited affairs with no sponsoring organization providing requisite attire or entertainment... Notwithstanding however, some very good amateur theatrical productions are put on annually during July/August at Ryerson Playhouse located across Route 9A just west of town limits).

The resulting battle led to the death of several British soldiers and razed many homes in what is now Lindenhhurst. This victory helped spur early American resistance against British rule and helped solidify support for independence among local residents. After America became independent from Great Britain, many residents left for new opportunities in North America. Some returned to Lindenhurst while others continued living away from home until they finally found their way back to this small community after Confederation (the formation of Canada). Many people who had left came back after General James Wolfe's forces destroyed Fort Niagara early in 1814; however, few individuals were able to establish themselves permanently within the community due to its small size and scattered location within Oswego County overall. This lack of permanence may have been due in part to high taxes levied upon landowners as well as difficulties encountered with building roads or establishing water systems given its isolated location near major highways).
