Lindenhurst is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 10,088 at the 2010 census. Lindenhurst is part of the New York City metropolitan area. It shares borders with Sayville and White Plains to the west and east. The Town of Lindenhurst was laid out by Nathan Ziegler in 1781 as a farming community on the southern border of what is now Westchester County. The first settler was Peter Hunnewell, who built a cabin near present-day East Main Street in 1785. In 1811, John Pierpont sold his interest in the village to Israel Putnam for $1,000. In 1813, Alfred Stowe bought land adjacent to Putnam's farm and founded Stowe Village; Lindenhurst became an incorporated village on July 1, 1814. In 1825, Daniel Webster purchased from Gideon GreenOUGH some acres southeast of modern day Lindenhurst for $135 USMILES which he used for his hunting preserve called "Greenoughs'. What are now Webstertown and Valhalla were located just south of today's town line at that time (August 2nd - August 3rd EDT). Daniel Webster donated these lands to the Town of Lindenhurst on October 16th 1830 through deed recorded in Albany NY Since its incorporation into municipalities status in 1898 there have been many major changes take place including annexations by other towns such as White Plains to the east while Sayville annexed it back again shortly thereafter; however most notably when Valley Stream merged into Lindenhurst forming one municipality on April 1st 1902 after much community debate Accordingly any change or alteration or expansion within Municipalities status must go through approved Community Council resolutions before any change becomes effective no matter how small

In 1847, two brothers who were entrepreneurs founded what would become Eastern Paper Company which became one of the largest paper companies in America. They also developed a large manufacturing plant which still exists today as Jardine & Milliken Corporation Headquarters located off Main Street across from Webster Hall (now Union College). The Lindenwald family descendants continue to live here and are involved with many aspects of local life including running the high school and town hall as well as mayoralty candidates for years past; they also hold various civic offices throughout town including streetlights Mgr., water main overseer and more recently fire marshal!
