Lindenhurst has seen some recent development - most notably its new high school opened in fall 2009 and located on Club Road adjacent to the former local shoe store; but much more remains unopened or dormant than actively developing over time including a potential mixed use project known as "The Triangle". This would include residential units along one side facing Club Road while commercial space would occupy another side with views towards Buffalo Niagara International Airport across Lake Erie
