Lancaster, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 3,340 at the 2010 census. Lancaster has been home to gun magazines for over 150 years and is one of the oldest continuous gun towns in America. The first gun magazine established in Lancaster was the "Davis Rifle and Pistol Club" on Main Street in 1838. The club's president was Fayette Dixon and its members were mostly farmers who wanted to keep their firearms safe from robbers or other criminals. In 1853, Johnnie Ray opened his own shop on Market Street called "Joint Stock Armory". This was the first commercialgun store in Lancaster and it served as a center for ammunition sales, repairs and storage for guns belonging to local farmers. Soon enough other businesses followed suit; by 1860 there were 10 gun stores present in Lancaster. During the American Civil War, many Lancaster residents volunteered to serve on both sides of the war including Captain Samuel Sennheimer of Company A (20th Regiment) Union Army - he later received an honorary discharge from Cornell University because of his service with companies A and B (21st Regiment). After the war ended, many riflemen returned home but some continued to live in Lancaster while looking for new opportunities; this led to the founding of the "National Rifle Association" here in 1865 by several military veterans who had moved back into town after their careers had finished serving abroad. The NRA initially functioned as a trade organization with member clubs across America selling rifles made by various manufacturers - soon enough however there were also NRA-affiliated gun museums throughout America that showcased firearms from all eras! In 1903 armistice negotiations led to World War I which caused much commotion within Lancaster; when news reached town that troops were being drafted near here many residents gathered around the local fortifications scurrying into hiding until things calmed down! Following World War II there wasn't as much activity at either GUNS nor NRA Headquarters due mainly to changing social mores which have a significant impact on how people view arms ownership today - until recently however numerous belongings dating back to those early days including old Firearms show up at auctions all across America every so often!

The townsite that now contains Lancaster was first settled by German immigrants in 1795. In 1824, the area became part of Erie County and was named for George Lancaster, an early settler. The village of Lancaster was founded in 1881 and quickly grew into a busy community with shops and services available to its residents. When the Erie Canal opened up in 1825, it helped to spur economic development in Lancaster and other villages along its route. By 1850, most of what is now Lancaster had been developed and the townspeople began to build their own homes. Lancaster's growth continued during the 19th century and into the 20th century; by 1920, it had reached its present size. During World War II, much of Lancaster was destroyed bybombing raids from American forces stationed in nearby Buffalo; however, many structures still stand today including the original courthouse building (now used as a library). Today, Lancaster is a thriving community with several shopping malls located within easy reach as well as art galleries and businesses all centered around its namesake downtown square which remains one of America's busiest intersections for retail therapy on election days!

Lancaster was first settled in 1798 by Loyalists from Pennsylvania. The town was named for General George Washington and his regiment who had fought in the American Revolution. Lancaster was designated as an Agricultural Experiment Station by act of Congress on November 12, 1916; it became part of Cornell University on October 1, 1922. The station closed its doors in 1978 and all research and education ended there until 1984 when a new building opened with labs such as genetics and plant breeding divisions being housed there until 1996 when they moved to Ithaca College's Main Campus. In 2000-2001 the old experiment station building (now used as a museum) reopened to the public under the name "The Laboratory". The historical center of Lancaster has two markets: one open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and another open Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm which is also where most of the town's cultural attractions are located including music events and other arts programming.objectives include promoting economic development within local communities by providing access to quality education opportunities for residents through Lancaster Community College Open Learning Programs; enhancing social service delivery within local villages/communities; safeguarding environmentally sensitive resources through land stewardship initiatives
