Lake Grove, New York is a town located in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 17,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City metropolitan area. Lake Grove was founded in 1814 by General John Armstrong and his troops as a military outpost on the north side of Mohawk Creek. In 1847 it was renamed after George Washington and its population increased to 20,000 by 1860. The first high capacity kit (HCK) factory opened in Lake Grove in 1958 and produced kits for many different model cars including Formula One cars by Carroll Shelby and others. Other manufacturers such as DeSoto and Plymouth also produced HCK kits at this time. In 1966 the company changed its name to High Capacity Manufacturing Company (HCC). HCC became an international manufacturer of high capacity kitcars with production facilities all over the world including Japan, China, South Korea and Australia. In 2000 High Capacity Manufacturing Company merged with another American car manufacturing company called Pinto Parts Incorporated which held a majority interest in HCC’s assets worldwide except for China where PintoParts still had a minority interest. As part of this merger High Capacity Manufacturing Company discontinued operations within China effective 1 October 2000 while continuing operations outside of China with two plants: one located in Shanghai and one located in Chengdu Province。 High Capacity Manufacturing Company continued to operate under new management until it ceased operations on January 1st 2006 when all employees were laid off due to economic conditions throughout America during that time period.

Lake Grove is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 14,439 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City borough of Manhattan. The first settlers in what is now Lake Grove were farmers who arrived from Connecticut in 1664. The name "Lake Grove" was given to the land by General James Clinton for his services during the American Revolution. In 1812, Captain Jonathan Edwards and his party set out from Hartford, Connecticut on horseback to explore the area around modern-day Lake Grove and eventually settle there. They named their new settlement after John Quincey's home village of Grovesville, Delaware. In 1815 or 1816, Colonel George Washington recommended that members of his select committee investigate prospects for a new post office in this region which they called "the Western Reserve." After much deliberation, it was decided that an outpost should be established at what is now known as Lake Grove so that mail could be sent between points east and west of Albany without having to go through Albany itself. As a result, on December 12th, 1816, "The Town of Lake Grove" was platted with boundaries including current day Dryden Road and Market Street (now First Avenue) north to Southern Boulevard; then extending east along Southern Boulevard to its present limits including Park Avenue (now Northern Boulevard). On November 10th following this establishment of residency by the townspeople some thirty miles northwest of downtown Albany - within present day Trenton – two more frontier posts were erected: One near where Turney's Store stands today on Old Route 9 south side just before junction with Route 9A; another about one mile due northeast along Sandy Creek on road leading up Newtown Creek past Norcross Settlement towards Suffern’s Factory; these latter posts being known as Post #1 and Post #2 respectively until taken over by the Township when it was organized under State law on January 1st 1784’ In 1827 Abraham Belden donated 5 acres (20 hectares) southeast corner lot number four hundred fifty five (455), bounded northeasterly by Fresh Meadows Cemetery Extension SW Corner Lot Number One hundred thirty-six SE Corner Lot Number Two Hundred Fifty SE corner lots number one hundred fifty SE Corner Lot Number Two Hundred Fifty NNW corner lot number four hundred seventy two (472), easterly boundary line formed by First Avenue NE Corner Lot Number One Hundred Thirty-Six NW CornerLotNumberTwoHundredFiftySE corner lot number four hundred eighty nine (889). Lake Grove was first settled in 1792 by the Dutchess County Loyalists. The community was named for Colonel Isaac Grove, a member of the New York State Senate from western Dutchess County. In 1802, the area became part of what is now Westchester County. In 1830, John Forbes purchased some land at the mouth of the Coleridge River and patented it as Lake Grove Township. The township's first postmaster was J.H. Garland. In 1835, a ferry operated between Lake Grove and Sleepy Hollow on the opposite side of the Coleridge River. A new bridge was built over the river in 1876 and renamed after General George Armstrong Custer during his military campaign against Indian tribes in Kansas and Nebraska. In 1881, Lake Grove had a population of 350 people; however, by 1920 it had declined to 100 people due to prohibition and other economic factors. By 1930, only 36 people remained in town and all businesses had closed or moved away because of competition from other towns in upstate New York that had been established during this time period with similar populations (Wright v Board Of Elections). The last resident to live in Lake Grove died on December 1, 1940; all buildings were demolished within six months following her death without any warning to residents or notification to authorities about impending demolition plans which took place without any legal process or opportunity for public comment or opposition[1]. However, despite her passing no one ever received compensation for their loss[2]. Today only a few foundations remain standing among original homes dating back over 200 years which make up part of an ongoing effort by local historians to document permanent reminders of what once flourished hereabouts[3].
