Gun Sight Manufacturing Company was founded in 1865 and continued making rifles, shotguns and other sporting goods until 1897 when it merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Factory to form Winchester Incorporated. That company still makes firearms today under various brand names including Colt Firearms Corporation and Remington Arms Company
Lake Grove, New York is a small town in Westchester County, New York. The population was 8,751 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, AZ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Lake Grove was first settled by Dutch people in 1664 and named after a small body of water nearby (theillusGrove). The Groves donated land to the town for development in 1892. The name change came about because of the groves' ownership of a large number of tracts of land along US Route 9 east from Scranton, Pennsylvania. In 1912, residents voted to incorporate as a village under the name "Lake Grove". In 1920, it changed its name again to "Lake Grove Village", and then back to "Lake Grove" in 1966 when it annexed part of Scotts Valley. According to the 2000 US Census there are now 8,711 people living in Lake Grove Village with 1% Hispanic origin; 3% Black or African American; 10% Asian Pacific Islander; and 95% white citizens or other European descent

Lake Grove was a small hamlet on the border of Ontario and New York State, located in what is now the town of Guilford. The hamlet was first settled in 1795 by George Washington and his family as part of the land grant that he received from King George III. The area that is now Lake Grove was originally called Harmony Township, but changed its name to Lake Grove in 1892 to honor James A. Garfield, who had been elected president that year. In 1922, the town of Guilford became a part of Lake Grove and it has remained so ever since. There are several reasons for this: first, because Guilford was already an established community with a few stores and homes; second, because there were no towns adjacent to Lake Grove when it became a part of the town; and finally, because residents in neighboring communities objected to being merged into another small municipality without their own representation. The history of Lake Grove can be traced back to at least 1795 when George Washington and his family moved there from Virginia. He cleared land near present-day Guilford for his farmstead which eventually grew into what is today known asLake Grove. The first settlers were primarily farmers who grew crops such as corn, peas, beans and wheat. By 1812, most of the original Harmon Township population had left for other areas within New York State due to economic factors related to warring factions within Great Britain over control of North America. However, some temporary residents stayed until 1815 when they relocated again due to increasing tensions between Canada and America over lumber interests on both sides of the Canadianborder. In 1892 – just four years after Harmon Township had become known as Lake Grove – James A Garfield was elected President after being one half-way through his two terms as Secretary of War under Ulysses S Grant’s administration (1889-1893). Because many people living in Harmon Township may have voted for Garfield instead of supporting Grant during this time period (many did not have easy access to ballots), he is sometimes considered the “last Presidential Candidate from Harmon Township” even though he only served one term! During Garfield’s presidency (1892-1901), economic conditions improved significantly throughout much northeastern United States thanks largely to agricultural production brought about by new technologies like irrigation systems and fertilizers developed through research conducted at Cornell University’s Agricultural Experiment Station (later renamed US Department Of Agriculture). This growth also led directly onto Highway 9 which traversed much of northeast Ohio during this time period before providing transportation opportunities southward across Ohio into Pennsylvania/New Jersey/New York City via Buffalo Bayou! Although harmonic township continued functioning until around 1920 due mainlyto lackOf resources available elsewhere following World War I then reopening due To increased demand for farmland after prohibition ended 50 years earlier - many villagers left for better paying jobs or simply didnt move back once prohibition expired -there are still numerous artifacts remaining from early Harmon township including old water meters & clocks hanging from trees outside village hallPioneer Post Office building
Lake Grove was founded in 1776 by Captain John Graves, and became a part of the Province of New York in 1779. The area was first settled by Germans, and later by Irish immigrants. In 1807, the town was renamed after General James Sullivan, who had fought in the War of 1812. In 1827, Lake Grove incorporated as a village. It remained an independent municipality until it merged with Oneida into Oneida County in 1958.
