In 1912, the company merged with Browning-Ferris Manufacturing Company to form Browning-Ferris-Lackawanna Corporation. It produced rifles, shotguns, optics and other firearms products until it disappeared in 1957.
Lackawanna is a small town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. Lackawanna is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Lackawanna was first settled in 1795 by John Lackawanna and his family. In 1814, the area became part of Erie County and was named for the Lackawanna River. The first post office opened in 1822. In 1851, the village of "Lackamania" merged into the town of Lackawanna. On July 1, 1951, all towns within Erie County were consolidated under one government body called "Erie-Kingsbury". The original courthouse on Main Street still stands today and is used as a community center and library. There are also several other historic buildings in downtown Lackawannan including the Masonic lodge (built 1888), First Presbyterian Church (built 1875), Bank of America building (1930s), and Gadsden House (1855). The current mayor of Lackawannan is Angelo Zalewski with term effective January 1st 2020 through December 31st 2029

A network of wagon roads connected the county with New York City and other points west. Grain elevator and coal mine operations developed during this time as well. During the American Civil War (1861-1865), many citizens served in Union military units or volunteered for service. Afterward, many businesses were closed down and unemployment increased until the early 1870s when new industries arrived such as dyeing woolen cloth and shoe making. However, those days are long gone and today there is only a very small minority that still resides within the county boundaries. Today much of what used to be called "the cultural capital" of northeastern Pennsylvania has moved closer to Philadelphia while Pittsburgh continues to maintain an important role within central Pennsylvania economy - both cities have experienced large growth rates over recent decades despite relatively low prices for goods produced within their respective metropolitan areas1.
