The Lackawanna Rifle Club, Inc. was formed in 1892 and is the oldest rifle club in Lackawanna County, New York. The club was originally known as the "Lackawanna Rifle and Pistol Club" and served as a social and recreational outlet for men of all ages. In 1925, the club changed its name to the "Lackawanna Rifle and Pistol Club, Inc." The club met monthly at various locations until 1942 when it moved to its current location on Fourth Street in downtown Lackawannan. Today, the club meets every other month at 4 p.m.
Lackawanna is a small town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 1,032 at the 2010 census. Lackawanna is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Lackawanna were farmers who came overland from Pennsylvania in the early 18th century. It wasn't until after World War II that English became the predominant language spoken hereabouts. Today, Lackawanna has a strongkeleton economy with several businesses located within its downtown core: banks (ACM First Niagara), grocery stores (Pepsi-Cola/Jamba Juice), clothing stores ( Sears & Roebuck) and several restaurants including Leo's Pizza Buffet which seats up to 350 guests inside an outdoor dining area complete with Ziploc bags for storage; Amish Country Bakery; The Applebees; Dutch Bros.; Pickles Unlimited; Joe's Place Hamburgers;; Red Lobster etc.. There are also several significant private sector employers such as Northrop Grumman (largest employer in town) and Lehman Brothers which have large facilities located just outside its bounds on Route 7A.
