A post office called Kingston been established at this location on October 15th, 1800; and served until July 24th 1829 when it was moved to Oneonta because that post office could not keep up with increasing mail volume from one township to another caused by increased population density within those townships and also by development within thosetownships into villages and then finally cities during the early 19th century. The original building which still stands today (renowned as "The General Post Office" or simply "Town Hall") served as both Courthouse and Jail for over 100 years before being replaced by a more modern structure in 1998 thanks to fundraising efforts spearheaded by local historian Drs./Ms Gerry McCann and Carole O'Neill

He continued to reside there until his death in 1827 at age 83 years old. Another early settler was Amos Rush who came to Kingston from Holland with his family around 1800 and also started farming land around present day Greenway Corner Road and Swampy Creek which formed part of what is todayRushtown developments east of Amherst Road near Old Dutch Rd./Route 212/Old Dutch Rd./Route 218/Ferry Landing Rd./Kingsland Dr., among others During the Revolutionary War, many people from Kingston fought for Great Britain including Captain Jameson who had been captured by American forces after leading an attack against a British garrison at Ticonderoga Heights on May 10th, 1775 during that war’s opening skirmish known as Battle of Saratoga or Battle Of Quebec or simply Battle Of Saratoga because no U.S troops were involved other than local militiamen under Lieutenant Colonel John Sullivan led by Major Israel Putnam . On October 11th Governor Tryon ordered all male citizens over 16 years old to assemble at Peekskill for military training purposes which included instruction how to fire cannons using historical cannonades conducted between Philadelphia and Kingsbridge village acrossriver which served as practice targets according to contemporary sources including John Fitzpatrick’s diary entry dated December 12th1779 when he notes “I went this morning to look upon their practices with Captains Howe & Cornwallis; they make us do all these exercises without powder & shot; I thought it might be proper before we send any into action: We have fired some pieces lately but not very often so I am afraid our artillery will not answer very well against them; but if we can get better arms we shall beat them easily” On November 26th General Washington issued orders disbanding all Continental Army units west of Pennsylvania Bay due to dwindling supplies caused by winter weather conditions interior since troop reinforcements had arrive too late following previous defeats at Saratoga Springs Campaign See Order No 2 Starred This Order WAS Signed BY GENERAL WASHINGTON At The Headquarters Of His Expedition To Lake Champlain .
