Kingston, New York is a city in and the county seat of Onondaga County, New York, United States. The population was 21,651 as of the 2010 census. It is the 6th most populous city in New York State after Albany and Buffalo. It is also one of the fastest-growing cities in the state. The first ammunition factory in Kingston was built by Samuel Smith in 1794. This factory manufactured Winchesters rifle rounds and other firearms parts at that time. In 1811, a second Ammunition Factory was built by Nicholas Sparks on Main Street near Kingston's present day Canal Street intersection. The Factory produced cannon balls for use by militia units during the War of 1812. In 1825, Nicholas Sparks organized a company to produce cartridge cases for revolvers and shotguns commercially called "Nicholas Sparks' Cartridge Works". By 1830, this company had become known as "Pierce & Company" because its founders were John Pierce (a brother of Nicholas) and Ebenezer Pierce (a son of Nicholas). This company became famous for manufacturing rifles such as the Colt Revolver and Whitney revolver cartridges which are still used today. In 1857, King George IV issued an order authorizing the production of black powder munitions on Crown Point Island which led to new production efforts at Pierce & Company located on Islip Avenue in Nassau County adjacent to Hempstead Harborouge across from Hempstead Beach Park where millions upon millions of rounds were fired over many years without any negative impact on either environment or humans

Kingston is a small town in the Tioga County of New York, United States. The population was 605 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mohawk Valley region. The first settlement in what became Kingston was made on November 3, 1776 by Loyalists from Ulster County, New York under the leadership of Colonel James Wolfe and Lieutenant Colonel John Armstrong. The village was named for General William Johnson, who had been an aide-de-camp to George Washington during his expedition against Quebec in 1759. In 1837, Kingston became the seat of Tioga County after it was transferred from Oneida County. In 1854, it gained city status when it annexed portions of Watertown and Schenectady counties. Kingston has a rich agricultural history dating back to its founding as a village that grew up around sheep and cattle ranching properties along the Mohawk River. In 1850, Kingman Lumber Company founded an sawmill on Royal Road near present day Kingston Center and continued production until 1914; this mill remains one of only two still operating in North America today. During World War II, Kingston played an important role as a munitions storage and transportation hub for the country due to its location near Slaterville Arsenal (now Niagara Falls) and Rockland Arsenal (now Elmsford). After the war ended, Kingston declined as manufacturing base shifted towards larger towns such as Buffalo or Syracuse while other rural communities flourished. However, since 2000s redevelopment has brought new life to downtown Kingston with Art Deco architecture mixed with contemporary retail popping up throughout., making it one of most vibrant cities within commuting distance for those living in central New York State

The first people to live in Kingston were the Mohawk Indians. They moved from present-day Kahnawake Territory (now Quebec) in 1755 to what is now Kingston Township. The Hudson's Bay Company built a trading post here in 1812, and development began around this time. In 1814, an act was passed by the New York State Assembly which created Onondaga County. Kingston became part of this new county, and its first courthouse was built here in 1816. A large canal was built through Kingston Township between 1824 and 1830; it helped increase trade and transportation within the area. At one point, Kingston had over 100 businesses! In 1834, Queen Victoria issued her proclamation creating "a British colony for black people" called Emancipation Proclamation; as a result of this proclamation, many African Americans left their masters in order to start their own lives as free citizens of Canada. Many of these slaves fled south to New York City or other parts of North America where they could be free. In 1865, during the American Civil War, General Ulysses S Grant ordered all white residents east of Buffalo be evacuated due to Confederate military activity nearby; about 1/3rd of the town's population came with them as refugees into Garrisontown west of Kingston Lake (now Niagara Falls). This forced most Blacksmiths & butchers outta business & into hiding; some were able to stay underground for several years before being discovered by Union forces & dragged outside onto US soil again—this happened during winter 1863-64 when food supplies ran low across NY after raids by Union troops led by General Ulysses S Grant—an event known as "the long siege". This exodus also affected literacy rates among Black Americans: only 60% Of adults could read English proficiently according to federal census data from 1870 --- levels that would drop significantly over time (by 1990%, only 33% could read English well enough!) while white adults who had not lost their language skills reached parity with those who did by 1930... however 1/3rd fewer Blacks lived below poverty lines than Whites did between 1870-1990!!). During Reconstruction following reconstruction period ended in 1865 most freedmen went back into slavery or traveled northward thru Canada looking for refuge until such time as they were granted citizenship rights there
Kingston was a small town in the Catskills region of New York State before the American Civil War. It was located on the south side of Kingston Pond, about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of Utica and 9 miles (14 km) southwest of Adirondack Lake. During the Revolutionary War, Kingston served as a base of operations for General George Washington's forces. In 1777, when British forces invaded New York, Colonel John Sullivan and his company attacked and burned Kingston. The town was destroyed by British forces in 1778. In 1805, the town was re-established as an incorporated village under the name Kingston upon Hull; it reverted to its original name in 1836. On October 11, 1861, it became a city after being accepted into the Union as part of Albany. In 1898 it amalgamated with Utica to form the present-day City of Utica.
