During World War II, many residents enlisted in the military or worked for war production plants within or outside of Kenmore. Many farms were destroyed during that time but many others flourished thanks to local produce being sold at local stores such as those operated by Mrs. Ruth Snyder (Doris) who ran her family grocery store from her home on Main Street until her death in 1984. After World War II ended, many businesses closed down due to inflation which caused prices for goods to increase rapidly without corresponding wages growth which hurt families budgets even more; this made it difficult for locals to maintain their homes with just a single job while groceries cost three times as much when they did twenty years earlier! From 1960-1970s some new development took place with subdivisions developed along Route 9 west of downtown including developments called Crestwood Estates & Riverbend Village which are still visible today although they have been remodeled multiple times over since then; these developments were part of Mayor Philip Zelnick's plan known as "The Zelnick Era" which aimed at improving infrastructure through publicprivate partnerships throughout Upstate New York while creating jobs for locals despite rapid economic decline throughout most parts of America during this period! This change has come about largely due to two factors: firstly increased commuting distances required for work within larger cities like Rochester or Syracuse where jobs can be found closer together; secondly an overall decrease in crime rates among all Uptown municipalities due Southerners moving back into our towns after leaving big cities such as Buffalo or Rochesterback when crime rates were higher than they are now making it more affordable for potential homeowners living close enoughto find good paying employment insteadof having TO move away altogether!
