Kenmore is a city in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 6,801 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Erie County. It lies on Lake Ontario at the southern extremity of the Finger Lakes region and is bordered by Niagara Falls to the north and east, Buffalo to the south and west, and Grand Island to the northwest. The first permanent settler in Kenmore was Nicholas Michilowsky in 1795. The town was founded on April 12, 1825 by Valentine Proctor as part of what became Erie County. On December 3, 1850, it became a village when all of its residents voted to dissolve themselves into a town under one name or another. That same year also saw the opening of Kenmore Park which contained an open-air swimming pool and tennis courts as well as other amenities for people living in that area then and today including small businesses located along Third Street between Main Street (now Elmira Road) and Western Avenue (now I-8). In 1875–76 prominent local politician George FitzGerald donated land southeast of downtown for a public park called Iroquois Park after his ancestor James FitzGerald who had settled there in 1666. In 1912 construction began onthe present day Kenmore Library building which replaced an earlier structure built in 1836 by Italianate architect John Prentice which burned down during a fire that destroyed much of downtown Kenmore. The current library building was designed by noted Dutch architect Piet Oudolf van Weyden with structural engineering assistance from Allan Nevis Associates Incorporated based out of Buffalo NY with significant input from original developers George FitzGerald & Sons Ltd., accounting firm Jepson Brothers LLP and private individuals throughout western New York claiming property adjacent thereto since before 1600 when large tracts were conveyed to Oneida chieftainess Agnes White Peace who granted them back to their respective Lenape owners via her brother Cornplanter upon her death circa 1674/5 through marriage to Frenchtown man Jacques White de la Salle alias Montresor; thus becoming Oneida's second largest grantee ever bestowed resulting from either legal or romantic entitlement dating back more than two hundred years! Kenmore has always been home to some very talented people - both natives & newcomers have made their mark here! Some examples include: sculptors Edwin Hahn & Ludwig Mies van der Rohe; architects Orville Wright & Edward Condon; physicians Drs Julius Rosenfeldt & Willis Thompson; photographers Lewis Hillyer & Alfred Stieglitz – among many others!

Kenmore is a town in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 7,593 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from Lake Ontario. In 1820, Kenmore became an incorporated village and remained so until 1959 when it merged with nearby Monroe to form Kenmore-Monroe Township. Kenmore had a Carnegie library which opened in 1912 and closed in 1974. A new library was built in 2007 and opened to the public on October 26th of that year.
In 1814, the town of Kenmore was organized when a group of farmers in the area purchased 1,500 acres of land. The town was named for JohnKenmore, an Englishman who had settled in the area in 1795. In 1827, the name was changed to Rochester after the citys first mayor and attorney, James A. Rochester. In 1902, Rochester became a borough and in 1959 it became a city.
