Stephenson, who located and erected a small piece of wood on the corner of Main and Eighth Streets. It was known as the Stephenson Rifleman's Mark (later renamed to The Pistolero). In 1903, Charles Fenton erected a large target at the old Mechanics' Institute on Third Street. This target became known as the Old West Bank (later renamed to The Shooting Gallery). Many other talented shooters were responsible for creation of gun targets in Harrison during this time frame including: Wm. Haskins, H C Beattie, Geo A Troup, J P Dolan and John Millington Mills. In 1924, Dick Sears developed an improved version of his own pistol grip712 shotgun which he called the Sears Gun Target. This new target quickly became popular withshooters throughout America due to its unique design and ease of use.Dick Sears continued production of his Gun Target until his death in 1978; leaving it unchanged and beloved by many shooters still today!
