The Harrison Rifle and Pistol Association was founded in 1892. The organization became the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association in 1907. In 1922, the NRA merged with the National Firearms League to form the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
Harrison is a small town in upstate New York, located on the border of Oneida and Saratoga counties. The population was 7,521 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Saratoga County. Harrison was founded by English colonists in 1784 as a postoffice called Harriotstown. The name was changed to Harrison in 1802 after General Harrison's victory at Fallen Timbers Creek against the Pawnees. The first store in Harrison opened on Main Street in 1827 and became one of the largest selling businesses in the area. The first school was built in 1829 and served students from Kindergarten through High School. In 1875, there were only ten people living in Harrison when it annexed part of neighboring Oneida County to form new township status with a population of 14,811 residents. In 1905, an act to create new townships passed both houses of the New York State Legislature and became effective; however, no land had been appropriated for development within present-day Harrison Township boundaries. A few years later, plans were made to reincorporate portions of what are now Oneida and Saratoga counties into newly created Harrison Township due to its growing size; however these plans never came to fruition because of lack of support from local officials or investors. As late as 1920, only 5% (3 families) lived inside present-day Harrison Township limits; however this number has steadily grown over time culminating with over 50% (38 families) living within its borders by 2006 according to unofficial estimates based on US Census data alone! Today's community began forming around 1900 when immigrants started moving westward out of Ohio looking for land that would offer better opportunities than back home. By 1930 there were over 1,500 people living here full time with many more coming during World War II because GIs needed housing closer to their bases overseas so they could continue fighting without having their homes touched by war hostilities . Today we have close to 30000 residents who range from farmers/ ranchers who provide much needed employment outside our rural communities all the way up into professionals such as doctors and lawyers who call us home every day!

Henry Harrison, the namesake of Harrisonburg, was an American statesman and first U.S. Congressman from New York. He is most famous for leading the charge in 1824 against Mexico's Santa Anna during the Mexican-American War. Born on October 12, 1784, in what is now northwestern Virginia, Henry Harrison attended Amherst College and then law school at The George Washington University before being elected to Congress in 1801. After serving one term as a member of the House of Representatives, he ran for president in 1804 but lost to James K. Polk. In 1807 Harrison was elected governor of New York and reelected twice more before retiring from politics at the age of 78 years old in 1827. Harrison died on December 3, 1865, two days after his 88th birthday; he was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
The name Harrison is derived from the English word harrison, meaning a small and shallow stream. The first settler in what is now Harrison was David Harrison who platted the town in 1792. The town was named after General John Harrison who fought in the American Revolution.
