During this time period there were several other companies that produced rifle scopes including Wacoal (1903), Hogue (1915), German Zeiss (1917), American Weaver (1920), Browning(1923), etc.; however, none of these companies achieved such longevity as John Brierley did throughout most of his product line! Gloversville, New York is a small town located in Monroe County, New York. The population was 1,645 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester-Onondaga Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Gloversville was Nicholas Glovers who came to the area in 1824. The first store opened on Main Street in 1827 and the first post office was established in 1830. The town was named for John Glover, an early settler and businessman. In 1838, James Aiken purchased land east of Gloversville from Nicholas Glovers for $2,000. Aiken built a mill on his property which became known as the Aiken Mill and began operations in 1840. In 1850, William Denton bought land west of Gloversville from James Aiken for $4,000 and developed it into what is now called Denton Parkland. In 1853, Elisha Goodrich purchased land east of glover's village from Vesey Goodrich for $2,500 and began developing it into what is now called Goodrich Park. In 1861, Jno Worthy erected a log cabin on his farmstead near present-day junction of State Route 9A (now US 20) and CR 610 (now NY 453) to serve as a meeting place for farmers who grew corn and other crops near Worthy's farmstead; this location would later become known as Goodyear Center or Worthy's Corners after him. As larger towns continued to pop up throughout Monroe County during the late 19th century – with Syracuse becoming one such municipality – so too did businesses and residences within those municipalities reach out to meet buyers/ Residents within these burgeoning towns started referring to themselves by their respectivetown names rather than just their county birthdates (e.g., "Gloverstown" instead of "Monroe"). This trend accelerated following World War I when many people left rural areas due to economic concerns – specifically low wages – but also becauseglovestown became a center for horse racing betting activities relatedto wartime military supplies shortages across much of continental America).
