In 1870, when Schenectady County was created, Gloversville became one of its six townships. In 1910, it annexed the neighboring town of Albion。 Groversville has experienced many changes over time: its ZIP code (10244) was changed from 71801 to 10246 in 1955; its name was changed from Albion to Gloversville in 1962; and its population size decreased by almost half between 2000 and 2010 due to migration to larger cities such as Albany and Syracuse.
