Glens Falls is a small town in upstate New York, population 419 as of the 2010 census. It is located onGlen Falls Road about 19 miles east of Syracuse and 24 miles north-west of Rochester. The name comes from the falls that run through the town. The rivers that flow through Glens Falls are Niagara River, Genesee River, and Cayuga River. The first European to visit Glens Falls was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524, who named it after his hometown of Verrazzano in Italy. In 1784, John thorndike Peale journeyed down the river to what is now Glenfalla and sketches its current appearance. He provides an early description of the falls: "A great body of water flows over a height above us into a deep valley; below us it separates two rapids which make an excellent descent for boats." In 1814 Nicholas Biddle organized a stagecoach line between Buffalo and Albany called the Cline Route and built a depot at Glen Falls for passengers on his route. By 1825, many farmers had moved to Glens Falls because of good soil conditions near the river's banks. A post office was established here in 1827, but no mail service operated until 1861 when General Gouverneur Morris started delivering mail from Albany to Schenectady via Glenfalla Rapids and then across Lake George to Utica. During World War II, United States forces built Fort Orange nearby while they were training troops in preparation foruelle operations against Japan (Operation Husky). The fortifications were dismantled after hostilities ended and most of their materials used to build other military installations throughout upstate New York during the war period including at Auburn Hills in Detroit Michigan and White Sands Proving Ground west NM

Glens Falls, New York is a town in the Finger Lakes region of New York City. The population was 27,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester-Onondaga County micropolitan statistical area. The first Europeans to visit Glens Falls were French traders and missionaries in 1624. George Washington and his army passed through the village on their way from Albany to White Plains on December 14, 1777. The first permanent settler in Glens Falls was Nicholas Canavan who arrived with his family in 1781. At that time there were only a few families living near the falls. In 1802, General Nathan Twine built a mill and store at what is now known as Canal Street close to where the river empties into Lake Ontario below Glen Rock Dam. This became one oftwenty mills owned by Twine along the Genesee River Valley north of Buffalo during this period of development along canal systems connecting these large central areas of New England. The mill race produced flour for local markets as well as export to Albany, Philadelphia and other parts of New York State before it closed in 1892 due to competition from existing mills within twenty miles of Glens Falls. Industrial growth continued until about 1920 when agriculture began to take over as principal economic activity in Glens Falls with a focus on potatoes, apples and vegetables production until recently; however small-scale manufacturing has continued unchanged for many years now across numerous tailors' shops, fabricators', woodworkers', printers' businesses etc., totaling more than ninety LLCs registered with NYS Entity ID # 6052191 since 2002 including ten textiles factories employing over 1,000 people making products like flag bars (Stroudsburg), bath towels (Fenway Park), curtains (Deborah Loomis), slippers (Newburgh) among others which are exposed daily outside various brick buildings lining Main Street adjacent to Ithaca College's main campus providing an excellent view both day and night while driving back home after work or enjoying dinner inside one such "manufacturing district".
