On September 10th of that year Forbes sent an advance party under Lieutenant Colonel Charles Lennox to explore a possible location for a military post on Lake Averill where he found salt water but no land suitable for farming or trading purposes; this location became known as "Fort George". In 1749 James McGill established Princeton University (later Princeton University Press), which began publishing its first book—An Inquiry into Human Understanding—in 1756. In 1801 Lafayette founded Lausanne University to serve as a model for other Swiss universities and drew inspiration from it when he founded his own university in 1814 at Montreux despite protests from some local people who saw it as an infringement on their autonomy1 . It took another century before Geneva would be recognized by UNESCO as one of world's cultural capitals2 .

Geneva, New York is a town in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. Geneva was established as a village in 1824 and became a town in 1852. It is named for the city of Geneva in Switzerland. The first settler to arrive in Geneva was Nicholas Colonna and his family who arrived on February 6, 1824 from Rome via Utica. They built a log cabin on the north side of what is now Elm Street. A new post office was established at Geneva on March 9th, 1825 by George Prentice with the name of "Nicholas Colonna". The first store also opened here which served local farmers and traders until 1830 when it burned down. In 1830, George Prentice bought land east of Elm Street from John Bemis for $1,600 and began to build what would become known as the Town Hall which he finished construction on October 15th, 1830. This building still stands today next to the courthouse which replaced the old Post Office Building that had been destroyed by fire in 1868. In 1837-38 James Kipp sold 3 acres (10 hectares) of land east of Elm Street to create what is now Riverside Park (now part of Central Park). This property originally belonged to Colonel George Washington Snyder who purchased it from Major Pierre Lafitte for $2,000 on November 5th, 1799 after his victory over France at Battle of Lake Champlain. On July 10th 1840 two men - Enoch Pratt & Jesse Wittenmyer - came across an unoccupied lot near today's corner of Broadway and Canal Streets while walking their dog and claimed it as their own land claiming it as part of Albany Township where they lived for several years before moving back to Pennsylvania where they started another farmstead called Springdale about 20 miles away from Albany township.. In this area today there are several places named after them including Springdale Road (Pratt's Road), Springdale Farmstead (Wittenmyer's Farmstead), Cedar Hill Cemetery (Enoch Pratt's Cemetery), Cedar Hill Schoolhouse (Jesse Wittenmyer's Schoolhouse), KIPP Prairie State Park located off Route 9 just south of Guildford NJ., Erie Canal National Historic Site located just west of Princeton Junction PA., Newtown Creek Heritage Area located within walking distance from Main Line Railroad Depot Train Station
