The Garden City Rifle and Pistol Club was chartered on October 26, 1892. The club's first meeting was held at the home of John S. Morse. Initially, the club only shotgun enthusiasts were allowed to join, but in 1895 they added rifles. In 1898, the Garden City Rifle and Pistol Club moved from its original location on Coney Island to what is now First Ave. and 9th St., in Garden City. At this point, it was considered a fashionable neighborhood for gun owners in New York City; many of the prominent families who lived in that area had extensive firearms collections. The club continued to meet monthly until 1902 when it disbanded because of financial difficulties caused by the Panic of 1893-1894. In 1901, the Garden City Rifle and Pistol Club reactivated and began meeting again at a house on Lake Ontario Dr., across from Union Station (now Amtrak Station). This location served as their permanent clubhouse until 1923 when they moved to what is now Second Ave., North of State Street in Albany NY (now called Spring Hill Plaza). In 1924-1925 they rented space at 222 Waverly Plz., then purchased it for $2,500 which enabled them to keep their clubhouse there through World War II. In 1949-1950 they leased space at 4 Park Row East in New York City before moving back into their original building adjacent to Albany NY State Capitol Mall – where they still meet today!

After DePauw's term ended in 1867, he was succeeded by his deputy Edward Slingerland who remained until 1870 when he retired due to age and illness; then Grover Cleveland took office and appointed him acting mayor for one year before appointing George Washington Cottage as permanent mayor which he retained until 1889 when Jno Pugh replaced him with Wm Fenton Baily who served from 1890-1892; finally Arthur Ashe served from 1893-1907 during Buffalo Bill Cody's trip through New York State visiting many small towns along the way including Garden City where he resided for a week while making speeches about cowboys and Indians at several ball games played near Niagara Fallsbefore returning home to Buffalo On July 10th 1907 Buffalo Bill Cody died aged 72 years at his ranch House north of Rochester NY
