GCRA quickly became one of the most active gun clubs in town. It hosted regular rifle matches, held meets to discuss community issues, conducted public shootings at various locations, served as mentor program for local youths, and even produced its own journal (the GCRA Journal) which remains an important part of gun magazine history today. GCRA also donated many of its equipment and memorabilia to charity organizations such as Parkland Memorial Hospital Foundation or Boys Town USA. In 1974, GCRA decided it was time to change its name to The Gun Cozy Society Incorporated (TGCSI). TGCSI continued to provide quality firearm releases until 1990 when it closed its doors because of declining membership numbers. However, TGCSI’s legacy will always be felt within Garden City Rifle & Pistol Club where members continue meet monthly for target practice and other activities!
