In 1836, President Andrew Jackson signed Executive Order No. 9359 which ordered all public buildings in New York City be torn down and replaced with new ones within five years or face demolition order. Mayor Fernando Wood recommended demolishing old churches and other structures to make way for new fortifications around Manhattan but Governor DeWitt Clinton vetoed the plan because he felt that many of these structures were historic landmarks that deserved to be preserved even if they no longer functioned as churches. On December 6, 1836, Jackson issued another executive order which directed all public property not used for governmental purposes to be sold or leased back at market value to private owners within ten years or face demolition orders throughout New York City proper regardless of whether those properties had been used for government functions previously or not! The sale of public property proceeded slowly due to legal challenges but eventually total destruction of all city government buildings occurred within twenty-one years! By 1840, only one percent of all public buildings remaining in NYC had been destroyed! In addition to its role as a crossing point on several waterways Forks River into Canada (and beyond), Fulton also served as a manufacturing center during the early 19th century thanks largely to its location near major railroad lines and factories along both sides of the river valley between Niagara Falls and Buffalo: industries such as textiles (made mostly out of wool), lumber (for building construction) and paper products flourished here during this time period. However by 1920 most production had shifted away from agriculture towards urban areas due primarily to technological advances; however some small agricultural towns such as Newtown remain prominent today despite having no direct connection with either industrial or transportation infrastructure northward beyond Rochester Hills Michigan Today's economy predominately relies on services such as healthcare and education rather than primary manufacturing jobs Once again Fulton has made strong strides since 2000 when it hosted its first international trade fair - Niagara American International Trade Fair - drawing over 150 exhibitors from 10 countries
