In 1831, Fulton was founded by Andrew Johnson and his family. The town was named for General George Washington’s birthplace in Virginia. By 1830, the population of Fulton had grown to over 350 people. With a thriving trade in goods delivered by horse and wagon, the town prospered. In 1838, Fulton became an incorporated village with a Board of Trustees. In 1846, two years after the American Civil War ended, Fulton residents voted to secede from New York State and form their own state called “Fulton County”. The county would later become part of New York City. In 1860, three years after the discovery of gold at Buffalo Bayou in Texas, Fulton residents voted to place a gold claim on the bayou. On July 20th of that year, they set up a small cabin to mine the gold. After several months of work, they found enough gold to make their claim worth $10 per ounce! The following year, Andrew Johnson was elected President of America and made history by becoming the first U S president who did not have political experience or ancestry from New York City or any other borough in Manhattan! As president he moved forward with plans for new infrastructure such as canals and roads that would improve transportation within his new country!

Fulton, New York is a city located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. It is named after Moses Fulton, who built a mill on the village's present-day site in 1825. Fulton was one of the original five towns in Schuyler County and became an incorporated city in 1898. The population was 21,611 at the 2010 census. The downtown area has been designated as a National Historic District since 1966. Fulton was first settled by Dutch colonists in 1614 and was part of Albany County until 1785 when it became Schuyler County. In 1825, Moses Fulton built a mill on what is now Main Street near the present-day intersection of State Road 9 and Indianola Avenue to produce flour for local markets and export to other parts of New York State. The mill continued operation until 1840 when it burned down. The first town in Schuyler County was founded by John Thorpe on July 20, 1792 as Northampton Township but became part of Albany County on December 19, 1800 following the merger of those two counties into new statehood under Governor George Clinton. In 1824, John Thorpe sold land adjacent to his former mill site to Isaac Lyon for $3 per acre which formed the nucleus for what would become Fultontown; Lyon donated additional land to create what is now Downtown Fulton according to its current design dated back to 1865 (the year that streetcar service began). In 1898, with the incorporation of Fulton into City Hall jurisdiction, it became one of America's most active economic communities with over 25 businesses operating throughout its downtown area including banks (10 or more), insurance companies (5 or more), manufacturing plants (2 or more), real estate offices (15 or more) and restaurants/bars/hospitals (.5-.9%). In addition to its long record as an economic powerhouse within its own borders – ranking second among all American cities behind only Detroit – Fulton also benefits from being riverfront property situated just upstream from Buffalo Niagara Falls making it easily accessible by car for tourists visiting this popular tourist destination; as well as being close enough so that people can walk their dogs without having them brought inside for exercise! Fulton, New York is a city in the U.S. state of New York and the county seat of Fulton County. The population was 827 at the 2010 census, down from 914 at the 2000 census. It was named for General James K. Polk who helped negotiate and sign the Treaty of Paris in 1848 after American victory over Mexico in that year's Mexican-American War. The first European settlement on what would become Fulton was made by Dutch colonists in 1624 on land they had acquired from Native Americans. In 1685, English settlers arrived and founded a small town called Northold on land leased from the Lenape people. The village grew rapidly but declined because it lacked a water supply and marketable natural resources such as coal or lumber. In 1795, Revolutionary War veteran George Washington approved plans to establish an arsenal and munitions depot in what is now Fulton County to support the war effort against Great Britain. A group of men led by Nicholas Sturgeon bought 1,000 acres (400 hectares) near present-day Dunkirk for $1 per acre (0.50 ha). Construction began soon after, but funding ran short and only two buildings were completed before development stalled due to economic difficulties within New York City during its early years as an independent country
Fulton was founded in 1807 by George Stephenson and his partner, James Watt. The town's first building was the Fulton Ferryboat Co.'s wharf. In 1825, the town passed a resolution to allow for the construction of a railroad. Construction began in 1827, and the first train pulled into Fulton on April 20, 1828. The railroad helped create an economic boom in Fulton and other nearby towns. By 1830, Fulton had a population of 10,000 people. In 1840, the town passed a resolution to build a university. The university was built over 30 years and opened in 1865. The city of Fulton grew up around the university and its students until after World War II when there were few factories left in the area so much as service businesses sprang up around it instead In 1949, Fulton became part of New York City through legislation passed by then- Mayor John Lindsay.
