In the year 1892, Freeport, New York became the first town in America to install an optical instrument for surveying and mapping. The instrument was a 400 inch (100 m) telescope that used a system of mirrors to image objects located at various distances from the Observatory. This telescope was crucial in helping to improve understanding of natural resources and land maps. The end of World War II saw an increase in research into optics and electronic devices due to advances in technology. One such company was Raytheon, which became one of the leading manufacturers of optic devices throughout the postwar period. Additionally having multiple pairs around so not everyone has To wear one set during workdays = less stress factor overall :) If buying new optics it's important never store them upside down – this happened once whilst trying put my new sun shades back on after taking them off during lunchtime only for them top heavy and landing right next to my computer monitor – causing extreme brightness fluctuations across the entire display which was pretty embarrassing... Plus oh dear costumed viewers everywhere suddenly knew I had 'new' glasses!! Why didn't anyone tell me sooner??? Anyway onto my favourite part of this story now... enjoying those new specs :)

Freeport, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 9,723 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Erie County. The village of Freeport was laid out in 1824 by Captain John Graves andothers under the name of "Fulton." In 1836 it became part of the newly formed Town of Freeport. The first settler in what is now Freeport was George Waddell. He built a log cabin on the west bank of the Susquehanna River in 1839. A post office called Freeport was established in 1840, and remained in operation until 1865. In 1854, John Dutton erected a large mill on the south side of the river for flour production; this became one of the largest mills in Pennsylvania and New York State operations during that time period. The Village became home to many businesses including an saddlery and harness shop operated by Michael O'Neill from 1860 to 1870, as well as two general stores (one operated by Halsey & Sons) before becoming a borough when it merged with neighboring Orchard Park into one municipality on April 1, 1922. On October 15th 1898 residents voted 3-to-1 to become a city after years efforts spearheaded by Mayor Abram Hewitt and City Councilman James Jaffe. On November 5th 1898 Mayor Hewitt announced that Frederick Sargent had been selected as mayor pro tempore who would serve until an election could be held to fill his seat vacated by Mayor Abram Hewitt who had served since 1893 as Borough Treasurer/Mayor Pro Tem./Councilman at Large./At Large Member from 1896-1922 inclusive/. After much discussion within City Council regarding which candidate should be chosen mayor pro tem., Sargent emerged victorious with over 60% majority vote cast against him being able to take office because he did not have enough votes to win outright even if he had been elected mayor pro tem., setting up what has come to be known as 'The Sargent Election'. Freeport experienced someminent growth due largely to shipbuilding activity along both banks ofthe Susquehanna River during World War II with local factories manufacturing warships like USS Monmouth and USS Valley Forge among others - however following hostilities ended those industries significantly declined beginning around 1990 concurrent with other economic declines throughout Erie County resulting from low commodity prices globally combined with NAFTA Job losses etc..freeport overall went through several cyclesofdecline thru 2000’s culminatingin recent decadeswith decreasingpopulation&diminishedeconomic prospectsleadingto widespread township-levelrevivalstartedin2010whichhasresultedin increasingfreeportpopulation
