Gun parts history in Freeport, New York began with the first firearms in 1828. A group of farmers and entrepreneurs founded the Freeport Gunsmiths Association to promote and sell Firearms. They designed and built their own rifles and pistols. The association soon became a reliable source for arms dealers throughout the area. In 1857, the town of Freeport was incorporated as a result of an act by the New York State Legislature. The town was named after Fort Erie on Lake Ontario, which had been destroyed by a US military expedition in 1846. At that time, gunsmiths were responsible for manufacturing all manner of firearms including artillery pieces, cannons, handguns and revolvers. From its incorporation until 1984, Freeport was home to one of the most significant firearm factories in America due to its location on the Buffalo Niagara River between Buffalo and Rochester – two major metropolitan areas with large arsenals capable of manufacturing high-quality firearms. Today,Freeport is known for its antique guns market which is one of the largest in North America The first handguns made in Freeport were Colt’s Model “36” pistols (1863). These pistols were simple affairs consisting only of three barrels: an iron frame with a walnut grip; wooden slide; hammer; trigger system; magazine release button; and loading dock affixed at backstrap level (the Magazine well has since been removed). With this design there remained little chance that any accidental discharge would happen during use or storage. As such these handguns proved popular among law enforcement officers as they could be used without fear of injury or damage to either weapon or person carrying it around at all times. Colts also manufactured other types of firearms under this model including revolvers (1865), semi-automatic pistols (1868), shotgun models (1876) and rifles (1887). Freeport is a small town in Monroe County, New York, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Freeport were French missionaries who established a mission in 1724. The present town was chartered by Governor John Graves Simcoe on June 14, 1825 as the town of Freeport and it became a city in 1902. In 1928, Freeport merged with the neighboring villages of Canandaigua and Webster to form one municipality known as freeport-canandaigua-webedale-freeport. On July 1, 2009, the former freeport village of Webster separated from Freeport and became its own city. The townspeople are descended from early Dutch settlers who arrived in 1665 and built a farmstead on what is now Clinton Street nearpresent day Canandaigua Lake. The area that would become Freeport was originally called "North River". George Washington visited this location during his stay at Fort Niagara in 1777 and named it for himself; North River refers to an Indian stream that drained into Canandaigua Lake before joining the Susquehanna River east of today's town limits. From these initial settler beginnings until 1825 only two other families moved into what would become Freeport: David Harker from Canada (1810) and Isaac Brockman from Massachusetts (1823). These two families constituted just over one percent of all those living within modern dayFreeport limits at that time; however, their descendants still dominate local business practices to this day! In 1828, Josephine Mason Heitkamp founded Sheepshead Bay Brewery which quickly became one of the most successful breweries in upstate New York due to its innovative marketing techniques such as using floats on Long Island Sound for tours! Today’s Heitkamp Brewing Company has been family owned since 1896 & produces more than 12 million barrels per year! During prohibitionism in America some businesses chose not to operate under any controlled environment & switched operations out of state; however many others like Sheepshead Bay Brewery persevered & continued production even while prohibition ended! After prohibition ended there were numerous waves of immigrants arriving thru Ellis Island including Germans (1912), Irishmen (1915), Italians (1920), Poles (1924), Russians (1929), Japanese Americans (1945) and Haitians refugees fleeing World War II! All told more than 50 different nationalities lived within modern dayFreestate boundaries at its peak!!! Todayfreestate’s economy rests primarily on agriculture but also includes manufacturing/service sectors such as plastics manufacture/export company & vehicle dealership; especially given its proximity to Buffalo NY’s global trade center!! The first permanent European settler was George Washington who arrived in 1784 as a volunteer with the New England Company. He named the community after his home town of Portsmouth, England. In 1811, Commodore Joshua Sloat chartered a whaling ship called "Eagle" to trade goods withRussian ports along the Saint Lawrence River. After reaching Freeport on July 8 of that year, they discovered oil seeps underny beach and decided to develop them into a port for shipping oil products back and forth between Canada and Europe. In 1825, John Davenport founded what would become the city of Buffalo in central Erie County when he purchased land from George Washington for $1 per acre (4% of current extent). Davenport's Donation Land Act provided for municipal government by township instead of by individual landowners lacking title or interest in land within their township limits. When Freeport became an incorporated village in 1898 it had only 10 residents; today its population exceeds 30 thousand people due largely to commuting into Buffalo City Hall located just east of Freeport on Interstate 787/Upper Canada Road which has been known as "the Main Street artery" since its opening in 1955 despite having few businesses on it other than funeral homes/layaway shops until recent years when new housing developments have sprung up adjacent to I-7 87 giving Freeport another major commercial center with more than 100 active businesses including 3 large banks (JPMorgan Chase & Wells Fargo), 2 insurance companies (American Insurance Group and State Farm Insurance) and many small businesses as well as several high-tech entities such as Comcast Xfinity TV station KOYF-TV serving as both an antennae dish and FM translator station providing local programming not available anywhere else outside Buffalo while also providing coverage for select events held near Buffalo City Hall such as basketball games played at HSBC Arena or concerts by Live Nation Entertainment Albany NY In 1984, Freeport eliminated its last tax levy when it voted overwhelmingly to join Niagara Frontier Community College District No 1 effective January 1st that year making it one of three freeports open enrollment UNIAC member campuses remaining within IGCD boundaries statewide following merger of IGCDs Erie Canal District No 1&2 with Niagara Mohawk Valley Community College District No 3 creating what is now known as SUNY Cortland Since then there have been numerous expansions program totaling over $100 million dollars including: 2007 - One hundred thirty acres bordering Onondaga Lake were annexed by the town creating Onondaga Park! This includes: 5400 feet wide waterfront park extending from north shoreline to south shoreline containing multi-use trails running through wooded areas wading ponds etc... An additional 5200 feet wide undeveloped waterfront park extends from Onondaga Lake shores parking lots leading past elementary school buildings downriver towards downtown Freeport shopping mall before terminating at Onondaga Lake again accessible via trails

The town quickly grew and soon had a population of 100 people. In 1847, Freeport became a city with its own government. The following year, the city built a new courthouse and jail to serve the growing community. By 1860, Freeport had a population of 400 people and was considered an important commercial center. In 1865, the city built a large brick schoolhouse to accommodate the growing population. By 1870, Freeport had become an important shipping point for goods arriving from New York City and other parts of the United States. In that year, it also became home to one of America's first airfields – Elmira Municipal Airport. During World War II, Freeport played an important role inthe war effort by providing military supplies and housing to troops stationed in New York City and elsewhere throughout the country. After the war ended in 1945, Freeport experienced rapid growth as an industrial center thanks to new technology developments such as vinyl record production and aluminum smelting. Today,Freeport is home to many businesses includinguleriesanda numberof high-tech companies as well as several cultural attractions including a golf course and multiple museums
