Fredonia is a town in Greene County, New York, United States. The population was 1,575 at the 2010 census. Fredonia is part of the Syracuse–Albany–New York metropolitan area. The first settlers in what is now Fredonia were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1624. In 1713, the town formed from parts of two other towns: Onondaga and Rome. On November 11, 1785, John Montgomery founded a Methodist Episcopal church here which served as the first permanent building in Fredonia. In 1814-1815 George Washington visited this area and ordered that all white men must leave within 24 hours or face punishment by local militia or military forces; any remaining whites were to be burned alive or driven out with their belongings. One year later General Anthony Wayne's army destroyed Fort Lyon on Erie Island after its defenders refused to surrender without guarantees that their families would not be enslaved thereafter. During World War I (1914-1918), many businesses and farms closed due to lack of food supplies; however, Fredonia was one of only a few communities in Greene County not damaged by war efforts. A post office called "Fulton" was established here on February 14, 1847; it became "Fredonia" on July 14th of that year. The railroad reached here on May 6th 1870 via the Canandaigua & Auburn Railroad Company's line from Utica via Syracuse & Oswego Junction (now part of Interstate 5). Frederick Samuel Eaton became the first Postmaster when he took office on October 1st 1870; his predecessor had been James Cranch Fenton Jr.. The last mail service departed from Fulton on May 2nd 1914 during World War I and replaced by express service operated by American Express until 1951 when all outgoing mail was discontinued due to budget cuts at state government facilities.. A small community store operated until 1978 when it closed due to fire HAZARDOUS MATERIALS!

They were very difficult to use and required a lot of practice to master, so they only became popular among wealthy people and military personnel who could afford them. The early pellet guns had some problems that stopped their popularity: They often malfunctioned, they produced too much noise for people living near battlefields, and they were slow compared to rifles or handguns. However, over time some improvements were made to these devices that helped make them more successful: Pellets started getting smaller, fastermoving projectiles emerged as a result of improved manufacturing methods, finally developing into what we now call “airguns” – things like pistols that can be fired with air rather than coal or powder smoke (though still using traditional ammunition).

The population was 9,869 at the 2010 census, making it the ninth most populous city in New York State and one of its five boroughs. Fredonia is also home to Hofstra University and has been called "The quiet village." It is known for its eclectic architecture and art scene as well as its small-town feel. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Fredonia were Dutch settlers who named it Pietermaritzburg (present day Hempstead). In 1614 British colonists arrived with their ship Hero and named it after Sir Henry Hudson's flagship, the Royalist Doggerland. The first town meeting was held on February 21st, 1624 to approve a charter for the new town from Governor Robinson. The original building that now stands on Main Street was built by Solomon Davenport in 1810 as part of his farm holdings around this time. He donated land for a public square, schoolhouse, courthouse and industrial buildings including a flour mill which he operated until 1832 when he sold his interest to Nicholas Biddle Jr., then owner of West Point Foundry & Iron Works downriver from here. In 1837 Biddle subdivided his property into two parts: Lower Broadway (now First Avenue) ran east–west between Main Street and Second Avenue while Upper Broadway ran north–south between First Avenue and Third Avenue; these boundaries still exist today within present day Fredonia Borough limits. After years of being without water or electricity, residents began protesting against high rates charged by local electricians in what became known as "the Electrification Rebellion". On December 12th 1898 finally service was restored after an eightmonth effort starting on October 1st 1898 with 5200 Volta cells spread over an area about twice that size using 2400 horsepower each Cycle arrested current at 12 volts DC! A new library opened in 1903 funded by ethnic Swedes who immigrated during those years; this library served until 1965 when it was merged with SUNY Polytechnic’s Central Library which still exists today across Fifth Ave from where it once stood! According to some sources Fredonia’s heyday may have come before World War II when many Italian Americans moved here seeking better opportunities than they had back home; however others maintain that culture did not start moving westward until after WWII started bringing more white people into the area
