The land that now makes up Endicott was first settled by the Dutch in 1624 and named "Willemstadt" after king Willem III of Holland. In 1764, Englishman Sir John Johnson purchased much of what is now Endicott from the Dutch, renaming it "OrANGE COUNTY". In 1809, James Monroe bought 640 acres (2 km²) of land east of present-day Endicott from Moses Green for $10 per acre (3 furlongs/km²). This area became known as Georgian Square and later as Monroe Park. On October 15, 1814, President James K. Polk signed Executive Order No. 12965 which created the United States Geological Survey within the Department of Interior to study possible new states within America's borders. On November 3, 1823 this order was signed by George Washington and ratifed by Congress on December 2nd with boundary changes that added Westmoreland County to Pennsylvania (now Delaware). Eastick Township took effect on January 1st 1830 while Westmoreland County remained part of Pennsylvania until March 14th when it also became part of New York State as well as Delaware and its original boundaries were restored including parts of Endicott Township back into Eastick Township on April 12th 1850. This change left only Orange County in Pennsylvania and Beginnings Point on Long Island Railroad still being part of Delaware beside current day eastern end point for both counties - about 4 miles due south from where they are today just outside Jupiter NJ along Interstate 95 road name - meaning there has never been an official separation between them administratively speaking officially or geographically speaking !! So much for history lesson folks !! EICOT post office opened at Beginnings Point on October 9th 1870 under postal code 07708 but closed operation due to lack letters after 7 years... same ZIP code remains today with no active post office
