In East Rockaway, New York, the Gun Barrels Heritage Museum has been in operation since 1978. The museum is dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the history of gun barrels in East Rockaway. The museum collection includes over 50 barrel types from throughout New York State. The museum also features a variety of firearms items, including shotguns, rifles and handguns. The Gun Barrels Heritage Museum was founded by local resident Don Armstrong. Don began collecting old guns and ammunition in his backyard in 1978. In 2001, he opened the first Gun Barrels Heritage Museum located on Route 11A in east Rockaway Township. At that time, the museum had 10 barrel types from across New York State on display with an inventory of over 100 firearms items. Don’s passion for gun barrels started out as a hobby but soon turned into a career when he decided to start displaying his collection at various events around town. In 2006, he opened up the second Gun Barrels Heritage Museum located on Route 9D in Farmingdale Township which featured an inventory of over 130 firearms items from all across New York State as well as international exhibits. Today, Don’s legacy continues with his son Chris Armstrong who joined him at the helm of the organization in 2018 after working at several other museums throughout New York City before joining their father atGun Barrels Heritage Museum. With both Museums still open daily (8am-5pm), visitors can enjoy more than just Guns and Ammo!

East Rockaway, New York is a borough in the city of Queens, in New York City. At 1,531 acres (636 km2), it is the smallest borough in New York and has the second-smallest population density of any borough. As of 2010, its population was 8,735. The name "East Rockaway" was given to the area by English settlers who thought that sound like "east" and "rocky" together. The first Europeans to encounter East Rockaway were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1624 and named it Noemans Bay after their captain Hendrick Corneliszoon Noemen. In 1664, during King James II's war with France, General Lenox bolster an army at Jamaica beachfront and discovered what would become known as East Rockaway when he identified a promontory on which two small sounds could be heard – meaning that there must be a harbor somewhere near by. He named the settlement after himself – East Hampton – and his troops built docks here for exporting goods from New Netherland. The community slowly grew up around these docks over time, until 1892 when Brooklyn annexed Queens; this caused most of the warehouses to close down and many people moved away because they didn't want to move into what was now Brooklyn Heights or Downtown Brooklyn; however, some decided to stay behind and founded various businesses such as garment stores, breweries (which produced soft drinks called India Pudding), pharmacies etc., making this one of the last areas inBrooklyn where small businesses thrived before gentrification rates set in about 20 years later. In recent decades there have been efforts underway by residents of both Boroughs to work together towards common goals such as creating more affordable housing units for low-income families or improving transportation options so that everyone can get around town easily without having to leave their neighborhoods. These initiatives have led to some positive changes including: - A renovated soccer field located just outside Borough Hall which has seen increased use by local youth since being opened in 2018 - An expansion of public transportation services available throughout all three boroughs through new subway lines and expanded bus service - A park located adjacent to Borough Hall which features a large green space perfect for activities like playing catch or picnicking

The early firearms were muzzle-loading pistols that fired shot from a breech in the barrel. The first successful smoothbore rifle was designed by George Stephenson in 1814 and built by the British Army. It was called the "Drummond Rifle". In 1847, John Browning designed and built the first effective repeating rifles, which used a magazine to reload them. These rifles were called "Browning Automatic Rifles."
East Rockaway was an ancient and rich borough in the New York City area. In 1824, it merged with other towns in what is now Queens to form the new county of Queens. The population of East Rockaway peaked at around 100,000 in the early 20th century but has since declined to around 30,000 today. The borough was first settled by Dutch immigrants who arrived in1664. By 1800, there were about 25 families living in East Rockaway. The first school in East Rockaway was established on Hempstead Road by Reverend John Woolridge on October 10, 1775. That same year, a schoolhouse and store on Main Street were also constructed. On February 2nd, 1776 a meeting was held to decide whether or not to become a town and vote on this issue; after being told that they would have to pay $3 per capita for their service as part of the town government, all 12 homeschooled children from East Rockaway voted against becoming a town. In 1824 the Borough of Queens (the current borough) was formed when parts of Kings County and Queens County recombined into one entity under the leadership of Governor George Washington Van Buren. At its creation, East Rockaway lay within the newly created borough; however due to its distance from most hubs within Queens - including Jamaica - it never attained any significant development until well into the 20th century. Although initially struggling economically due primarily to lack of industry and transportation options available outside of Manhattan- especially for those living near Nassau Coliseum- over time EastRockway beganto experience rapid growth thanks largely to its location within easy commuting distance both northbound through Long Island Sound and southbound onto I-95/I-495 linking New York City with points eastward including Atlantic City and Syracuse NY etc.. This migration led eventuallyto an increase in population from just 30 residents per 1K square feet (~30 dwellings) at inception up until 2000 when it reached approximately 150 inhabitants per Ksf (.160 sq mi). Today much like then – many businesses sit idle due primarily to lack of customers or competition from more developed areas withinNYC or outlying suburban communities alike; however despite this decline some remnants remain such as Hempstead High School which offers sports programs along with a variety OFA club which meets monthly at Hooters restaurant located across Ambassador Bridgegate Rd from LIC arena
The town of East Rockaway was first settled in 1764 by the Dutch. It became a part of New York in 1795. In 1815, the town was renamed to Roosevelt after President James K. Polk. In 1835, it was merged into the city of Brooklyn.
