East Rockaway is an unincorporated community in Queens, New York City. It is located on the east side of Long Island and is part of the New York City borough of Queens. This order allowed reloaders to create custom ammo using this new technology so long as it contained at least 95% Silver Lead/5% Copper Ammo! One of the earliest examples of this type of ammo was created by John Moses Browning who developed his just-launched .30-06 cartridge back in 1875! His bullet was made from bronze jacketed steel shot andfeathered with ivory feathers for greater accuracy than other types of bullets then being offered at the time. This innovation would later be repeated by other manufacturers such as Remington who also began offering Bullets Made In America Cartridge Co., Ltd., better known today simply as Remington Ammunition because it bought out production runs of Seething Brass Ammunition back in 1938! The first Dutch settlers arrived in 1635 and called the area "Haven" because they found an uninhabited island there. In 1801, John Jacob Astor purchased land east of present-day Eastrockway Beach from the Dutch for $10,000. This property would later become the nucleus of what is now East Rockaway Village. By 1809, the village had a population of 150 people and consisted of 12 stores, 10 houses, and two churches. A busy commercial artery ran through the village: Willoughby Road led to Jamaica Bay to the south and Red Hook to the north; Indian Path led east to Fresh Kills landfill on Long Island Sound
The first Europeans to arrive in the area were Dutch and English traders. In 1624, a French vessel, La Salle, sailed up the Rockaway River and landed on Long Island. The French called the area "New France." In 1664, the Dutch conquered New Netherland and renamed it New York after their King Hendrick V of Holland. The English took over in 1687 when they acquired what is now Brooklyn from the Dutch. They named it East Rockaway because of the abundance of rocks east of Great Neck Harbor. In 1795, during the American Revolution, British General John Burgoyne surrendered at Saratoga Springs in New York City. Afterward, East Rockaway was part of Canada until 1867 when it became part of New York State as well.
