Dobbs Ferry is a small town in upstate New York, located on the east bank of the Susquehanna River. It was founded in 1768 and became a borough in 1802. The present town was formed from part of what was once the village of Dobbs Ferry. The first settlers to Dobbs Ferry were Methodist missionaries who came overland from Philadelphia in 1768. They built a log cabin on the banks of the Susquehanna and started preaching to local tribes of Indians. In 1800, they erected a small wooden church which still stands today. In 1802, Dobbs Ferry became an incorporated borough with its own government. The original courthouse was located at what is now First Avenue and East Main Street. The population of Dobbs Ferry reached around 1,000 by 1830. However, it declined thereafter until it peaked at around 650 in 1870 when it passed out of bounds to other municipalities because of its close proximity to Scranton, Pennsylvania (then within the United States). During World War II, Dobbs Ferry served as one of two towns in Upstate New York that were directly affected by bombing raids on Atlantic City from 1944-1945. In 1959, the Borough Council voted 5-1 to annex adjacent unincorporated territory making Dobbs Ferry an official city. With this annexation came several new streets and houses as well as expanded services such as public transportation and zoning changes that created more opportunities for housing development within the limits of the newly established city limits including Placid Drive bordering Waterford Township which had been uninhabited since before communities were organized within Upstate New York following statehood in 1912.)

Dobbs Ferry is a small town located in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 1,453 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. Dobbs Ferry is known for its cranberry sauce and apple cider vinegar. The first settler in Dobbs Ferry was Nicholas McGee (1772-1836). He built his cabin on what is now Main Street in 1802. In 1815, John A. Macdonald bought land from Nicholas McGee and established the first store in Dobbs Ferry. In 1816, Captain George Fenton built a mill on the river near present day North Bridge Road. In 1819, Reverend James Kellar purchased land from Captain Fenton and founded a Baptist church here. In 1824, Isaac Sisson settled here with his family and began growing apples. Sisson's orchard produced some of the most popular apples in America such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Rome, Jonathan Appleseed etc., which are still sold today by many local farmers around the world who know how to grow these types of apples well! In 1830s William Doherty started doing carpentry work for customers at captain Fenton's mill and soon became an established member of the community as a carpenter/builder/contractor. His skills were highly respected within Dobbs Ferry society for their skillfulness in completing high quality projects quickly and efficiently! One highlight from William Doherty's life came when he won construction contracts to build two churches - one across from where Main Street now stands (pictured), and another just east of town on Sunrise Highway - both completed before his death in 1865! Today one can still see evidence of these churches – parts of both have been restored to their original condition! Dobbs Ferry experienced rapid growth during prohibition era as many people moved into this small town to avoid being caught up in prohibition activity surrounding Buffalo Niagara Falls! This did notfavouribliographyandmostofthenewcomerswerefromOntarioCanadawherethelegal drinking age was 19insteadof 21inNewYorkstatebeforeprohibition!. Many residents Herecontinuedtoproduceandsellwine whileavoidingpossibleprosecutionunderlegallyallowedtastes like "mimickingbreweries". Many speakeasy style bars opened up during prohibition too which continued until after repeal! After repeal many residents decided to move out or leave again due to lack of opportunities or crime rates outside of town compared to what they experienced before proscription.. Today much has changed since then with more businesses opening up along with less crime rate

Dobbs Ferry is a small town in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Oneonta-Albany-Oneonta Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Dobbs Ferry was Caleb Smith in 1793. The town was named after General James Dobbs, who had served as a brigadier general in the American Revolutionary War and as Commandant of Fort Niagara on the Canada River. In 1824, Samuel Hubbard founded Hubbard's Store and Post Office in what is now Dobbs Ferry. A year later, Isaac Heald opened Heald's store on Main Street. By 1830, there were nine stores in Dobbs Ferry with a total population of about 100 people. In 1832, John Fenton built a gristmill on the south side of Route 9A to process corn for local merchants and farmers. Fenton continued to operate his mill until it was destroyed by fire in 1886. In 1847, Ebenezer Morse established Morse & Company grocery store and post office downtown which remained open until 1966 when it closed due to changing retail needs within the community. In 1865, John Wetherbee built Wetherbee's Store across from High School which became one of Dobbs Ferry's most popular tourist attractions during its heyday between 1870-1920s In 1916-1917 two school districts merged into Oneonta School District #2 including Dobbs Ferry making it an unincorporated village located within the new district boundaries The last residents departed from DobBSFerry Borough Council election day 1922 when all precincts were consolidated into Oneonta School District #2; however they continue to maintain their own elections with individual members being elected through referenda every four years Owing largely to its proximity to Albany (just over three hours away) and its manufacturing base at nearby Hudson Power Company (the town’s largest employer), Hudson Valley produced some of America’s most famous agricultural implements such as tractors and feeders - particularly during World War II when many factories closed down due to bombing raids . After becoming an unincorporated Village under Oneonta School District 2 jurisdiction in 1916 following consolidation of several villages within that district boundary , DobbS ferry continued hosting annual Fourth Of July fireworks shows until abruptly suspending those events beginning on or about 2020 because control over those events passed from village government back then too? ThatSame year also marks “DobBSFerry Borough Council History Day” where various items associated with that period are showcased including original Borough Council building still standing today!
