Dobbs Ferry, New York is a town in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. Silicon Graphics' first product was a graphics accelerator card called the SILicon V4/200 for DEC PDP-11s running Apple IIe operating systems. In 1990, ASO merged with EMI Microelectronics plc (EMI) to form Electronic Materials Industries Limited (EMI). At EMI, pioneers such as Don Mitchell developed innovative ways of packaging microprocessors and memory chips so they could be shipped without damage or loss during transport between production sites around the world. In 2000, EMI spun off into its own company: AppliedMicro Systems Incorporated (AMI). The name of the original settlement was "Harrison's Mills", after Captain John Harrison who settled there in 1786. It is now spelled "Dobbs Ferry". The first permanent settler in Dobbs Ferry was Capt. John Harrison, who arrived on July 12, 1786 from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He built a mill on the stream near present-day Dobbs Ferry and started to grind corn for sale to local farmers. His mill was the first to be erected in this area and it continued operation until 1834. In 1821, Norwich Township (later part of Ulster County) was organized and named for Samuel Morse, Jr., an American inventor who developed early electrical technology in that township. Morse had come to New York City as a young man with his family and had become interested in improving communication methods through his inventions. In 1821 he founded the Trustees Company of Norwich which invested money in landholdings around this city including those at present-day Dobbs Ferry. In 1830 Samuel Morse bought land west ofpresent-day Dobbs Ferry from two Dutchmen for $10 per acre (this land later became known as Northumberland Park). After receiving title to this land from Samuel Morse Sr., he moved his family there and began farming his new property which included parts of present-day DobBSFerrytown and Northumberland Park today

It is located in the Town of Dobbs Ferry on the south shore of Lake Ontario. The first settler in Dobbs Ferry was Nicholas Wessels, who arrived in 1792. In 1814, John Aiken purchased land from Nicholas and built a log cabin called Aiken's Grove on what is now Main Street. In 1825, Isaac Morse bought land from John Aiken and built a frame house on what is now Fourth Street. George Washington Dodge sold his farm to settlers in 1827 and named it Dobbs Ferry after himself. He also donated land for a post office which was established that year by George Stephenson with the name "Dobbs Ferry". In 1830, Samuel French opened a general store at what is now Third Avenue and Second Street. The store closed about 1860 but reopened as French's grove until it closed again around 1890. Frenchman's family ran the grocery business until 1906 when it went out of business due to World War I restrictions on selling food products outside of North America In 1907, William Tompkins built a grist mill on what became known as "Tompkinsville". The mill continued to operate until 1939 when it was replaced by an automated corn elevator which still operates today In 1917, lawyer Edward Cushing started practice at Cushing & Goodrich law firm (now Hogan Lovells LLP) at 414 Main Street in Dobbs Ferry and soon became one of its most successful attorneys In 1943 he married Anna Freud whose father had founded Sigmund Freud’s clinic in Vienna In 1957 he retired from Hogan Lovells LLP effective December 31st after over 50 years service

Dobbs Ferry is a town in Ulster County, New York, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester, New York Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Dobbs Ferry was Nicholas Slocum in 1810. In 1824 John A. Fenton purchased land east of the ferry from Nicholas Slocum and built a log cabin on what is now Main Street. The first post office in Dobbs Ferry opened in 1827 and was known as "Fentonburgh". In 1830, two brothers named Moses and Elias Bogan bought land west of the ferry from John A. Fenton and began to farm it. They renamed their property "Dobbs Ferry" after General David Dobbs who had helped them buy their land. By 1835, all of the male citizens of Dobbs Ferry were farmers; there were only three people living on the island then: Fenton (later known as President George Washington University), Moses Bogan, and Elias Bogan’s son-in-law Daniel Webster Jr.. In 1840, when Robert Ehrhart acquired property east of the ferry from Moses Bogan, he also started farming it. After selling his land to Robert Ehrhart for $1 per acre in 1845, Daniel Webster became interested in getting into agriculture so he bought some additional acreage east of the ferry from Robert Ehrhart around 1850 which he called "Webster's Landing". In 1865–1866 Homer Wertheimer erected a toll road between Rochester and Saratoga Springs through Dobbs Ferry making it one point where goods could be shipped directly from those towns without having to go through Albany or Syracuse. When that road was abandoned due to financial troubles in 1870–1872, Wertheimer reopened it as a stagecoach route between these two cities using horses instead of cars because there was no railway connection then between them both! In 1892 an electric locomotive named Donahue ran into trouble near milepost 11 on Route 9 northbound near West Seneca Lake while trying to cross over onto Seneca Lake; due to this accident many small businesses along that route went out of business including Old String Cheese Factory which still stands today near milepost 12 on that same route today! On July 21st 1956 an oil rig collided with another vessel about half way upriver resulting in death both vessels; this event led to increased fishing activity around those waters because boats could now travel much further downriver without fear of being attacked by large fish! On October 8th 1957 a small fire broke out aboard a pleasure craft moored at night near Milepost 15 on Route 9 southbound; this caused serious damage to that vessel which required her towed back home! This tanker fire remains oneofthe largest fires ever recorded within NY Harbor! On October 26th 1969 during Hurricane Mario (a very strong storm wind gusts up to 100 mph) water levels rose high enough above low tide for boats equipped with oarsman (or canoes) accessable inside floodwaters beyond Point Lookout National Monument; although most people evacuated before any flooding occurred they did have some problems trying get back into town because vehicles could not reach certain areas upstream due to deep water levels! The next day more boats arrived but most residents found ways to stay dry by staying inside homes or building temporary shelters until higher water levels receded
