The remaining operations at Lacroix were sold off in 1922 to form "Sapphire Optical Inc." which continued making optics until 1985 when it was purchased by Littelfuse Corporation. Since 1985, Littelfuse Corporation has been responsible for all production at Sapphire Optical Incorporated - from lens design through production distribution - ensuring that every product is made with precision and attention to detail. Depew, New York is a town in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 3,664 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Rochester–ON Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European settlers were Dutch Reformed missionaries led by Hendrick de Vries who arrived in 1624 and founded the village of Depew on an east-west road between what are now Elmira and Webster townships. The name comes from Depechew Creek which flowed through the town. A post office was established in 1788, and it continued to be used until 1868. In 1814, when territory was added to Sullivan County from Erie County, Depew became part of that county as well; it remained so until 1800 when it reverted back to Sullivan County control. In 1821, a schoolhouse and barn were erected within the current limits of depew; this was followed by a Presbyterian church in 1827 and a Methodist chapel in 1830. In 1850, there were only 4 white residents living in depew; 2 men and 2 women among 118 total residents according to the census that year. By 1860 there were 7 white residents living in depEW; 5 men and 2 women among 143 total residents according to the census that year. Over time black residents started arriving but their numbers did not grow significantly until after World War II when they increased steadily due to various social changes throughout America which impacted rural areas disproportionately affecting black Americans during that time period including integration into institutions like schools/universities etcetera According to 2000 US Census figures (the last official count), there are now 9 white inhabitants living inside of Depew's borders while none live beyond its limits outside of those boundaries - making it one of few such towns without any minority groups occupying majority positions inside or outside its borders today[2].

Depew was a small town in Monroe County, New York, United States. It was located on the border of the Town of Seward and the Village of Medford. The population was 538 at the 2000 census. Depew is now part of the Rochester, New York metropolitan area. The first settler in Depew was Nicholas DePew, who arrived Loyalist refugees in 1786. He started a gristmill and built a blacksmith shop on what is now State Street. In 1820, he sold his land to John Ransom for $1,000. The first post office in Depew was established in 1825 by George Stephenson with the name "Ransomville". The town dates its original name to Nicholas DePew's mill which still stands today: it means "place where water flows abundantly." In 1827-28,Depew had an Agricultural Fair which attracted more than 100 exhibitors from throughout central New York and Pennsylvania. A few years later, local residents erected a meeting house and schoolhouse which remain standing to this day; they were replaced by present day depews High School and Community College in 1978-79. It wasn’t until 1869 that mail services began operating throughdepews Rural Telegraph Line Company (later known as NYCTel). That same year saw the opening ofthe first post office building – a two-story frame structure on Main Street – within depEW limits since those were then considered part of Township No 2 along with Medford and Sewardtownships No 1 & 2. Also that year saw birth ofDepew’s first child: Alfred J., born to Anna (née Lewis) DePew and Abram Fenton deVere III on October 6th… births continued sporadically until 1889 when there appeared finallyto be enough children bom within bounds for one whole ward! In 1870-71a farmers’ market operated at depEW corner Main & First Streets for about three weeks each week during early summer months; it may have been preceded by similar markets held hereabouts circa 1848 or 1850.. By 1875 several stores had opened up along Third Avenue east of main street – some continuing into olden days still serving shoppers today! On July 15th 1890 residents voted not to annex any other towns within their borders following an Octagon Meeting presided over by Supervisor James Sweeny attended by all township officials including Mayor Whitehorn; this action set off heated debates between locals over annexation boundaries ever since! Thereafter no village meetings could be called without prior approval from supervisor so long as eveything within just two square miles remained under control thereby preserving “peaceful order” during these transitional times! Furthermore Deputy Sheriff Edward Purdy became our town's first 'official' policeman after being appointed while stationed hereabouts late October 1890 through December 1893….he resigned shortly thereafter due to family responsibilities back home…..was succeeded hereinby Constable Hiram Wicks…. latter served until his death suddenlyuddenly less than one month shy of his 75th birthday….on January 10th 1896 Constable Wicks passed away suddenly after providing many hours voluntary help caring for elderly patient in local hospital……… subsequently replacement Captain Isaac Hickey took command with immediate effect….. latter served terms thru1901when he retired due to ill health having become too feeble from age etc.; Capt Hickey also left behind numerous traditions such as foundingof Local Historical Society - modern day Depews Chamber Of Commerce - annual Pumpkin Festival - Fourth Of July Celebration
