Swivels allow you to rotate the gun barrel in a variety of directions. This makes it easier to aim and shoot, particularly if your firearm is equipped with a sights. When shooting handguns, for example, rotating the barrel can let you adjust for different trajectories. It also helps avoid unintentional shootings by making sure the barrel points in the correct direction when pulling the trigger. Some firearms do not have swivels, but instead rely on Manual Lever Gardening (MLG) mechanisms that require use of two hands to rotate the gun barrel around an axis perpendicular to its bore axis. Other types of lockset guns that lack swivels generally have a lever-type mechanism that pivots on an arm or post connected by a band or coilspring system to the backstrap of the firearm. The cartridge case is inserted into one end of this lever and pulled up until there's contact between it and another object; thenreleased so that rotation can take place about its longitudinal axis (i.e., parallel to its bore). There are two main types of these levers: open-ended lever type pistols and closed-ended lever type pistols. Open-ended Lever Gardening pistols feature an open end at which rounds pass through before being pulled out again by hand; closed-ended Lever Gardening pistols have a closed end at which rounds are held before they are pulled out by hand or from behind an obstruction such as a holster plate or magazine well ( Figure 1 ).
On October 17, 1857, three riflemen from the Cortland Rifle Company opened fire on a group of men who had been seen trying to steal a horse in town. The men were killed and two were taken prisoner. This event is generally considered to be the start of the Cortland Massacre.
Cortland, New York is a small town in the Adirondacks of upstate New York. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cortland-Milton-West Seneca County, New York Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled in 1795 by colonists from Connecticut. The first post office was established in 1805. In 1865, Cortland became a town and on July 12, 1868, it became a city when it incorporated as such. On January 1, 1991, Cortland annexed the village of West Seneca which had been located within its borders since 1945. One of the most famous residents of Cortland is John Lennon who grew up here and attended school here until he was 10 years old and then went to private school in nearby Stamford before moving to Liverpool where he learned how to play guitar and write songs. Cortland has several landmarks including: The State Capitol Building (built in 1871), an early frame church called Trinity Lutheran (1820), Andover Park (opened in 1889), The Elmwood Cemetery (founded 1837), The Sayre School (1914) and finally The Town Hall building which was completed in 1915; all of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places

This would allow you to change your aim by moving the handle in either direction, making it more difficult for an adversary to track you. The first examples of this type of gun were created in 1828 by German arms manufacturer AEG (Allgemeine Gesellschaft der Elektroniker).
Cortland, New York is a town in Cortland County, New York. The population was 12,869 at the 2010 census. The town was first settled in 1792. It was named for General James Wilkinson, who fought in the American Revolution and later became the 3rd United States Secretary of War. The name "Cortland" comes from two different places: one meaning "a place where there are many hills," and the other meaning "the land between the rivers Delavan and Hudson." In 1805, Nicholas Tarleton erected a sawmill on what is now Seneca Lake; it was soon followed by others. By 1824, all but two of the town's eleven families were living within its boundaries. In 1830, Cortland College (now SUNY Cortland) began operations as an agricultural college; it would remain in operation until 1949. In 1833-34, a group of businessmen organized what is now the Waterford Alliance to promote agriculture and industrial development in eastern New York State; this group helped to create commerce along Route 9A near Waterford City. The townsite that stands today on Senator Anthony's Hill (northwest corner of Seneca Lake Road and Ridge Road), across from present-day Waterford City proper, was first surveyed by George Washington Carver in 1836 during his survey of possible sites for a new Agricultural College campus south of Ithaca Falls; however, no college opened until 1850 when Cornell University did so with initial classes only for men students. In 1840-41, when steamboats began carrying passengers upriver to Ithaca from Buffalo (now Rochester), merchants realized that they could not rely solely on water transportation to reach their destinations downstream; they needed something more efficient and reliable than horses or wagons drawn by dogs or oxen because these animals could get tired or sick after long trips over difficult terrain. Cortland is a village in Cortland County, New York, United States. The population was 2,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, NY Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Erie Canal crossed through Cortland and passed through the town before terminating at Buffalo. The first real settlement in what is now Cortland occurred on October 10, 1784 when Nicholas Howe and his family set up a trade post on the east bank of the Susquehanna River near present day Lake Ontario. In 1820, John Morris built a mill on the north side of the river and named it Morrisville after himself and his wife Martha. In 1827, George Stephenson built a sawmill just upstream from where Morrisville now stands. The first train to reach Morrisville arrived on November 25, 1830 from Canada with goods being unloaded at nearby Niagara Falls. The village began to form as people came to work in mills or for other purposes around this time. On May 1, 1839, voters approved an application for incorporation by vote of 5-1%. By 1840, there were about 120 residents in Cortland Village. On December 3rd of that year (1840), Samuel Morse completed construction of America’s first electric telegraph line between Hartford (now Windsor) CT and Baltimore MD which opened up new opportunities for communication across North America including direct mail service between Boston MA and New York City NY over open water crossings at Fordham Point NJ and Wallkill Landing NJ
