Cortland, New York is a town in Erie County, New York, United States. The population was 17,717 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Erie County. The village of Cortland was first settled by Europeans in 1795 and became part of the new colony of Albany on January 1, 1814. This building served as both village hall and county courthouse from its opening until 1907 when it was replaced by a much larger structure which still stands today (curtailed off during recent times for lack of use). Until recently there were no schools within Cortland limits but public school district No 7 now serves all unincorporated areas east of I-787 including Cortland proper while private schools are located just east of town line on routes 806 & 808 (the current community site being laid out around these roads) with each school having an enrollment up to 350 students inside its walls! In addition to this newly created public school system there are also three charter schools: One serving grades PreK-6th aged 4-12th across most or all aspects while one serving grades 7-12th only provides Basic Education courses such as math/language arts/science etc., with special programs offered for gifted students Kthrough 6th grade! With so many options available for education one might ask how such small town ever managed to stay afloat through these tough times? After all “small towns” can often be counted on one hand…..or worse! As stated earlier small towns often have their own fire department which may be respondable if something goes wrong with larger communities or if extenuating circumstances arise like a natural disaster; however even with such precautions some disasters do happen so small towns must always maintain communication with surrounding communities should something happen go unnoticed
