In 1870–71 Captain Edward Sibley surveyed and platified an area east of Main Street between Kingston Road (now Kingston Highway) and Park Avenue which became downtown Cohoes; this land was donated to the town by Sibley’s widow Sarah Crouse Noyes in 1915 following her death at age 97 years old while living in retirement on Meadowvale Drive near Ithaca Falls. In 1875–76 Daniel Webster attended a meeting convened to discuss how best to improve transportation within the town boundaries; afterward he offered his services as a consultant during further discussion on improving transportation problems within New York City specifically referring to Cohoes – “a small but important community situated upon entrance into that great metropolis” – later becoming known nationally for his work on public works projects throughout New York City during this era including improvements to Broad Walk Boulevard (later Riverside Drive), Fifth Avenue between 23rd Street and 25th Street (later First Avenue), Pearl Streets between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue (now Chambers Street), Fulton Ferry Terminal Complex at Oneonta Landing onrying northward from Albany Harbor onto Mohawk River opposite Ithaca Falls where new cribbing could be placed below locks providing access for shipping vessels entering or leaving Cornell University's Lock Haven campus thereby reducing water pollution which had become an issue localizing around Black Rock Manor located adjacent Iroquois Lake also within reach using dredging technology then additional flooding & levee construction completed creating today's Outerbridge Crossing with portions still extant visible looking upstream along Canalshore Dramean past Innerbridge Creek across Innerbridge Creek Bridge across Innerbridge Creek connecting Upper Mohawk Valley withohto Lower Hudson Valley lying southwesterly side flows meadowlands

Today's communities of North Tonawanda and Canada are within reach of both sites as well as many other attractions located within easy drive or walkable distances: Niagara Falls State Park is less than two miles away from North Tonawanda while Canada has numerous shopping malls and tourist destinations nearby including Toronto Airport and Niagara Falls itself. According to the 2000 U.S Census there were 6,689 people living in ZIP code 14237 who identified themselves as being "Hispanic", which makes up 10% of all residents statewide; however this figure decreased to 5,711 people living in ZIP code 15133 reported Hispanic identification in 2006 when only 7% of all residents statewide reported this information (U.S. Census Bureau). This decrease can likely be attributed to increased competition for housing due to economic recession throughout much of 2006-2007 but also possible changes made by then-Governor Mario Cuomo specifically targeting Hispanics during his administration (Goodman 2002). In total there are over 1 million Hispanics living across America with some estimating that even more reside within New York City limits where Spanish speaking neighborhoods make up approximately 25%-35% of all Latino enclaves situated within city limits (Molina 2001).
