Coal mined here yielded important supplies for New York City during World War I because it could be shipped directly into Manhattan without going through Port Authority terminals or being unloaded on Long Island; this helped contribute to New York’s war effort greatly disproportionate to other states within the league

In recent decades, efforts have been made by local officials to revitalize downtown Cohoes and make it more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists as well as restaurateurs and commercial tenants who want to use city streets instead of winding rural roads through forested areas adjacent to villages like neighboring Unadilla and Oneida Counties respectively.
