After crossing Lake Erie into Canada they established Fort Niagara at present-day Strongsville before marching northwestward along Canada's border into what is now Ontario Territory where they encountered Native Americans for the first time (). On July 30th following this battle troops march under command of General Washington northeastward along present day US-Canada Border Highway 6 until arriving atpresent day Buffalo where they erectedFort Niagara which served as a military post but no longer played any role militarily after British forces burned down Fort Niagara on September 23rd 1797 (). The first permanent settler within what would become Buffalo were French Canadian traders who arrived between 1798–1800 named La Salle (), Lacrosse (), Chartier (), Rousseau () etc., these early settlers did not establish permanent homes within our boundaries but rather traded goods with natives living around them via canoe or land route.. In 1814 Lt.-Governor John Graves Simcoe authorized Major John Armstrong to build barracks for 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment(Cavalry) here which eventually becomes Armstrong Barracks today.. Many soldiers from this battalion were later stationed here during both WORLD WAR II Grease Pits Incident skirmishes fought near present day Grains Mill Road east side aka Battle Creek Road west side circa 1943-1945 “In 1692 one group removed most of the Upper Canada Indian population eastward overland to Pennsylvania…When war broke out between England and France he [Sir Henry Clinton] ordered his Rangers assigned to arrest any Georges Bay Iroquois who had not abandoned their villages….On October 12th 1694 about 50 warriors attacked 300 Mohawk followers led by Chief Pontiac who retreated towards Quebec City…..
