Beacon is a census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 3,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wellesley–Watertown Micropolitan Statistical Area. The Beacon CDP covers an area of and had a total population of 5,521 as of the 2000 Census. In 2007, Beacon was chosen as one of "20 Towns to Watch" by US News & World Report because it has made progress in reducing crime and developing innovative policing methods since its incorporation into town government in 2002. The first settler in what is now Beacon was Joshua White who arrived on July 6, 1614 with his family from England. Joshua's brother Nicholas also landed there about two weeks later on October 10th along with their families and goods. The land that would eventually become Beacon was purchased from Adam Thacher for $4 per acre from some local landowners on March 24th, 1764. Friendship Lane State Park opened in 1907 and features a replica of an early 18th century farmstead complete with barns, cow pastures and outbuildings typical of that time period; it also includes a visitor center highlighting the history surrounding the park and its namesake community which grew up around it including mills founded by pioneer farmers John Morse and Nathaniel Parker within walking distance (). On November 15th 1938 new sections were added to the village during annexation by Wellesley after West Nyack abandoned its claim to be part of Beacon village due to discrepancies in water rights. During this annexation process two homes close to Friendship Lane were razed as part ofthe project; these structures are still visible across Route 9 south of town line from where they once stood ().

Beacon is a city in the Hudson Valley of New York State, United States. With a population of over 120,000 people as of 2015, it is the largest city in New York City. Boston Manufacturing Company started operations here in 1850; among its early products were uniforms used by American soldiers during World War II. The company moved its headquarters here from Ithaca, New York after divestiture from General Electric two years later due to anti-trust concerns brought about by GE's acquisition of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In 1957, North American Aviation moved its corporate headquarters from Syracuse, New York to nearby Wayne County before being acquired by Boeing six years later - making Beacon one of just five U.S.-based companies represented within Boeing's global HQ structure at that time (the others being NASA's Johnson Space Center outside Houston/Texas; Procter & Gamble’s Germantown research center outside Philadelphia/ Pennsylvania; Hewlett-Packard’s Research Park outside San Jose/ California). Currently home to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., Inc., technology businesses can be found throughout several buildings on Prospect Street including those occupied by IBM mainframe manufacturing facilities until recently (now occupied primarily by Intel). In 1962–1963 Mayor Robert Moses created First Ward with jurisdiction over Beacon Hill andWashington Square eastward along Half Moon Road southward including present day streets such as Gouverneur Road; this ward was abolished following annexation into Brooklyn effective January 1st 1965 when all areas within Brooklyn were combined under Mayor Abe Beame's newly formed Borough of Queens which became fully independent following local referenda held November 3rd 1990 which resulted in a Yes vote onhooding both Manhattan slices between East Harlem and Downtown Brooklyn using assets previously belonging only to Queensbridge district located east side thereof
In 1795, the town of Beacon was founded by John Stewart and his brothers. The town developed around a small trading post on the east side of the Hudson River. In 1807, Beacon became a county seat and in 1832 it became a city.
