Auburn, New York is a city in central New York State. It is the county seat of Onondaga County and the largest city in that county. The population was 153,831 at the 2010 census. The first known inhabitants of Auburn were two brothers, Samson and Jonathan Kinney, who arrived from Connecticut in 1624. They founded a small settlement on the north side of Cayuga Lake on January 1, 1625. The Kinneys were followed by others: Nicholas Flourish and his family (1627), John Carver (1630), Thomas White (1634), Samuel Purdy (1639), Job Smith (1646-47), Abraham Chamberlain (1701). In 1714, when Albany was admitted as a separate town within Onondaga County, it included part of what is now Auburn Township. In 1755, when the western boundary of Onondaga County was changed to follow the southern border of Erie County, Auburn became part of that new county. The first white settler in Auburn was John Armstrong who arrived in 1796 as part of an effort to establish trade with Canada. He built a cabin on land he had bought from the Indians near what is now Canal Road and Indian Path North today. Armstrong left behind him three children: Solomon Armstrong Jr., Nancy Armstrong, and Rebecca Armstrong which continued to live there until 1830; one daughter remarried after leaving home while living with her father's brother Jeremiah Fulton also residing in Auburn at that time; Rebecca's husband served as Justice Of The Peace for Onondaga County from 1828-1829; both SolomonArmstrongJr., NancyArmstrong Sr., RebeccaArmstrongMajor resided until 1830 when they all moved away to Utica NY because their father died there suddenly.) He has been named interim head coach for USF's final three games of the season while NCSU president Greg McDermott looks into whether or not he will terminate McDermott's contract after multiple complaints about him from players and staff members Pearl also coached for ten years as an assistant under legendary offensive coordinator Don Coryell with both Stanford Cardinal football team (.914 winning percentage) and San Diego Chargers National Football League affiliate AFL team (.898 winning percentage).
