Auburn, New York is a small town in upstate New York. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census and 8,395 as of the 2012 estimate. It is part of the Adirondack Park region. The town is named after General John A. Auburn (1809-1892), an officer in the Union army during the American Civil War and a member of the New York State Senate from 1871 to 1875. In 1865, Colonel William Prentice donated land for school purposes on which today's Auburn High School stands. In 1870, James Fenton built a log cabin on his farm east of present-day Elmira for use as a schoolhouse. The first students were enrolled in kindergarten in 1872 under teacher Ebenezer Burritt. After three years of operation as a one-room school with 12 pupils, Fenton added an auditorium and gymnasium to his building and named it "Auburn Academy." In 1876 he purchased land along Buffalo Creek north of downtown for $5 per acre; this area became known as "Fenton Park." The name "Auburn" had been given to several villages northeast of Rochester before it was given to this location by Colonel Prentice himself! In 1899, Mrs. Dora Sellars opened her own grocery store at 312 Main Street which soon became known as "Sellars' Supermarket." On February 26th 1912, Reverend J Halsey organized what would become known as First Baptist Church (now First United Methodist). Pastor Halsey served until 1943 when he died suddenly at age 75 while serving confirmation services for new members at church headquarters near where Main Street now endsnote 1 . Rev J Halsey's wife Dora took over leadership duties until her death also aged 75 years in 1973note 2 . Reverend C S McDonald officiated at both services note 3 At ninety-five years old Mrs Dora Sellars still led First Baptist Church into its centennial year celebration on October 25th 2016 note 4 ! Reverend McDonald who will celebrate his ninetieth birthday next year wishes all those celebrating Jubilee Year events that God has blessed them abundantly through their ministry throughout these many seasons! When Judge Augustus Bickerton came to live hereabouts about 1800 he found two other men living amongst us “a journeyman trader and another man waterman” note 5 they had removed with them some time before note 6 They prospered hereabouts but afterwards moved away being driven out by Indians Note 7 Not finding success they returned home again but did not stay long no more Note 8 We dont know how many more times like this happened but eventually someone decided enough was enough so we all got rid of themNote 9 But there are people here still descended from these original pioneers note 10 Some say Judge Augustus Bickerton actually relicted some English family connection back to England because his greatgrandfather emigrated there too! This mystery will never be solved=)

In 1938, Sir James Clark set up his own company called Clark Safes Ltd., which manufactured some of the most successful firearmsafes ever created! His Safes consisted of three main types: One type used keys instead of buttons; another type employed straps instead of nails; finally, there were models employing bar codes instead of screwsdriver keys! Thesesafes remained popular until their replacement in 2007 by Glock handguns!
