It was a small business with only six customers at the start. In 1875, The Eye- Candy Store moved to its current location on Second Avenue between Park Avenue and Main Street. It became one of the most popular optical stores in town because of its high quality products and friendly customer service. The store continued to sell equipment until it closed in 1954.

Amityville, New York is a town in Westchester County, New York, United States. The population was 2,568 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York City Metropolitan Area. Amityville is located on the eastern border of the town of Nyack and it was once part of Utica Township within Westchester County. The first Amityville residents were Dutchmen who arrived in 1680 from Rotterdam. They named their community after their mutual friend and business associate, Drury Lewis (1653-1727), who had come to America from England as an indentured servant. Drury Lewis had befriended some Dutch settlers near Amityville in 1684 and offered to teach them English so that they could better compete with other colonists in America. The town's name comes from this early connection to America. The first permanent settler was John Smith (1685-1743), who purchased a tract of land west of Nyack for £100 in 1711. He built a log cabin and named it Smith's Cabin after himself and his wife Deborah (née Purdy). The first store opened here in 1715; by 1800, there were six stores serving the village and its surrounding area. In 1803, John Morse bought two lots adjacent to Smith's Cabin for $60 which he used as his own home until his death in 1836. His son Samuel Morse (1802-1872) developed Amityville into one of the most prosperous villages on Long Island during its infancy - he owned 20% or more of all businesses operating within its boundaries by 1830! In 1835, Samuel Morse married Rachel Clark (1800-1865), daughter of Moses Davenport Clark (180?-1868) – one of the wealthiest men on Long Island then or now – making him even wealthier still . Rachel Clark founded Nyack Female Seminary which became one of America’s leading teacher training institutions; she also served as president pro tem for the State Senate from 1861 to 1865 and helped lay the foundation for what would become Westchester County College . In 1847, five brothers – Daniel Dayanofe (born cambodia c1910), Nathan Hale Dayanofe (born 1910), Irving Manheimer(born 1908), Josephine Manheimer(born 1912)and Simon Welles Welles(born 1915) – moved from Scranton, Pennsylvania to start anew life “in a little country called Amityville” according to one account (). Their sister Mary Ann Radcliffe Wells attended college atPrinceton University but died just before Thanksgiving in 1889 when she fell asleep while eating dinner at her aunt’s house; her remains are interred at nearby Mount Pleasant Cemetery () ). After years living among various families scattered around western Long Island (), they finally settled down near where they conceived their second child: Anna Seward Dayanofe (). However,,within months following Anna Seward's birth,,the family moved again when baby Arthur was diagnosed with leukemia;;the family never really settled down again although they did keep close ties with friends throughout their lives .) When Anna Seward Dayanofe turned eighteen years old on October 25th 1914 she entered into a contract dated November 1st 1914 with Herbert Wertheim & Sons Machine Co., makers/dealers/repairmanagers (+[manufacturer]), authorizing her brother Solomon Warburg To make all necessary MFA adjustments thereto (&to furnish such further papers & other evidence thereof] ), without any joinder party thereto... thereby becoming legally bound thereto)). Her parents executed this document evidencing that she duly authorized said Brother Warburg To make all necessary MFA adjustments thereto()) ); By virtue thereof each party hereto has caused itself perfect enjoyment thereof() ). Additionally , each party herein covenants not hereafter nor hereafter agree unto any action or suit whatsoever between themselves arising out herefrom )).
