This situation caused tension among Americanized Mexicans and English-speaking settlers alike; some felt that they were being taken advantage of while others saw Mexican immigration as a positive development that would help increase economic opportunities for all members of society. Meanwhile,Earle battled financial difficulties due to increasing production costs associated with extracting silver from his mine but still managed to maintain high levels of civic activity and invest heavily in education and infrastructure projects throughoutSilverCity."
