Gun Target History in Silver City, New Mexico The history of gun targets has been around for many years in Silver City. The first target to be shot at with a firearm was a black powder missile fired from a cannon on July 10, 1860. This was followed by the first rifle target shooting competition held on October 15th, 1861. Rifletarget shooting contests were also held every other year until 1905 when they were discontinued due to the high number of casualties associated with them. The first handguns to be used as targets were pistols developed in 1876 by Wm. Henthorn and Jno. Gasser of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. These pistols had three barrels and could fire up to five shots per minute. Gunnery competitions using these pistols started soon after and continued until 1906 when they were discontinued due to the high number of casualties caused by them. In 1907, Johnnie Barnes became the first person to win an international rifle target championship at Harpers Ferry Armory in West Virginia whileshooters from all over the world competed against each other for the title of “ World’s Champion Shooter”

Many of these companies remain today such as Colt Firearms Company (founded 1871), Savage Arms (founded 1892)and Winchester Repeating Arms Company (founded 1894). When the Great Depression hit America in 1929, gun sales plunged nationwide as demand fell off significantly due to changes in society and economy alike. However, gun enthusiasts still found ways to purchase firearms regardless of the economic conditionsanda continue using them for protection throughout the 1930s until finally disappearing during World War II when most firearms were outlawed nationally
The Gold Rush of 1849 brought many people to Silver City, New Mexico. The town was founded by a group of miners who were looking for new sources of income. By 1850, the town had a population of about fifty people. The miners who Came to Town kept the town alive by running the local grocery and liquor store. In 1870, Silver City became an incorporated city. It was once one of the most prosperous towns in New Mexico. However, by the early 20th century, Silver City had lost its economic stability and its population fell below 50 people. Today, Silver City is a small community located in eastern San Miguel County on US 75 between Alamogordo and Socorro Counties. Silver City is located at (10°48'24"N 106°16'36"W). It has an elevation of 633 feet (196 m). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3 square miles (8 km2), all land. As of 2010, there were 99 residents in Silver City living in organized clusters called villages or hamlets within 02 sq mi (40 km2) of downtown core with business districts servicing other areas adjacent to it including: North side; East side; South side; Downtown core sprawled out around 1 Kendall Plaza which has multiple anchors like restaurants/bars/cafes including several high end chains like Olive Garden type places as well as mom-and-pop businesses catering mainly to Hispanics and Native Americans from various reservations dotting across 2x1 mile wide area spread over east - west parts both north - south sides

Silver City is a small town in New Mexico, located on the east bank of the Rio Grande. The name Silver City comes from its silver mines which were developed in this area. The mines closed in the 1920s, but silver still remains a valuable resource in the town today.
