Tasers have been around for over 60 years, and their history in Portales, New Mexico can be traced back to the early days of law enforcement in this community. In 1951, the town of Portales was established on the banks of the Rio Grande. At that time, crime was very rampant in the area and officers were often required to use deadly force in order to stop it. One of the first tasers that was used in Portales was a device known as a “steel-jawed Mace”. This tool consisted of an electric gun that Slammed into flesh with great force and caused serious injuries. It quickly became effective at stopping crime and helped make Portales one of the most law-abiding communities in all of New Mexico. In 1974,Portales voters passed a resolution ordaining tasers as an official police weapon. The first officer to carry a taser in Portales was Deputy Sheriff Rick Hickey. The weapon quickly became popular among officers and soon began being used on more high-crime areas within the community. Today, tasers are used by both police officers and civilians alike throughout New Mexico – making them one of our state’s most important assets!
There are many things that can happen when a person is tased. It could be used as an emergency measure to subdue someone who has been menacing or assaulting another person, it could be used in self-defense if the person feels threatened and cannot move, or it could be used as punishment for someone who has done something bad. The gas ones were first made in 2002 and they work by emitting a gas instead of electricity. This type of taser is not as dangerous as the electric one but it does have some risks associated with it such as causing cancer or other health problems from contact with the gas cartridge. mind control devices were created in 2007 and they work by giving somebody complete domination over their body without any input from them. This type of device is often used by law enforcement officers to interrogate suspects without their consent or knowledge

Portales is a small town in the US state of New Mexico. It lies on the south bank of the Rio Grande, about 25 miles (40 km) northeast of Albuquerque and 15 miles (24 km) west of Gallup. The population was 2,452 at the 2010 census. The town was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1847, during the Mexican–American War as part of a fur trade route through what is now central New Mexico. In 1863, General José de Santa Anna led an army into Portales to suppress a rebellion against his rule there; Santa Anna's forces burned much of the town and its homes before withdrawing. The Mormons rebuilt Portales and made it their permanent headquarters in 1867-8. In 1912, when New Mexico became a US state, Portales became one of its seventeen townships; it remained so until 1959 when it became one of fifteen municipalities within the new state capital city, Albuquerque. As one municipality, Portsale has jurisdiction over all but four villages within its borders: Anadarko Village on the east side of I-25 just north of downtown Albuquerque; Carlsbad Village onetime home to substantial oil drilling activity; Falcon Lake Community near Interstate 10 east-west interchange; and La Hacienda Ruins southeast corner I-25 exit 313A/B just outside Ofatepec de la Cueva villagelimits along with Socorro Valley to northeastern Mexican territory

Portales, New Mexico is a town in Grant County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Albuquerque metropolitan area. The town began as an agricultural community in 1878 on the site of present-day Portales. The first post office was established in 1879 and the first store opened in 1880. The name Portales came from Spanish portugal (now Portugal) because many Mexican settlers had come through that country during their journey north to America. In 1902, a sawmill and grist mill were built and the town became a railroad stop on the Santa Fe Railway. A post office was established at Portales in 1912, but it closed within two years due to lack of mail traffic. The discovery of oil near Doña Ana River in 1936 led to new development for Portales; businesses sprang up around the petrochemical plant and other industries soon followed suit. Despite this growth, poverty continued to prevail throughout much of the 1940s and 50s because there was no money available for education or infrastructure development outside of downtown Portales itself. However, some progress has been made since then: in 2007, Trust for Public Land funded a $4 million renovation project overhauling city hall and municipal services; public works projects have also been initiated to improve water distribution and Roads 1 & 2 which connect downtown with parts of southeastern Albuquerque; as well as repairs to sidewalks around school zones across town including along Main Street between Seventh Avenue North and I-25 South—a project spearheaded by Mayor Heather Samuelson’s predecessor incumbent Rudy Martinez In recent years there has been increasing concern over emissions from nearby factories associated with defense contractor Lockheed Martin subsidiaries such as Los Alamos National Laboratory used products exported from New Mexico prisons while incarcerated federal inmates are currently housed at one facility near Doña Ana River despite protests by local residents concerned about potential health risks posed by release into open air contact with high levels of radioactive waste product generated by these facilities
Portales was founded in 1795 by José María Portales and his wife, Ana. The town grew rapidly due to its role as a crossroads for the region and its access to water resources. In 1854, the United States acquired New Mexico from Mexico and renamed it after General Santa Anna. As part of the Mexican-American War, American forces attacked Portales on July 10, 1846. The town was sacked and burned by American troops, killing most of the population. The legacy of the Battle of Portales remains an important symbol of America's involvement in that conflict.
